Barcelona shows door to Big Three

Samuel_etoo_2_ap

Imagine being Barcelona and being good enough to say you don’t need Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto’o and Deco.

New Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola revealed just that on Tuesday, stating that Ronaldino, Deco and Eto’o are not in Barca’s future plans. Now Ronaldinho and Deco weren’t a surprise as they have been linked with exits for a while now. Eto’o was the surprise of the three, meaning all three will jump to the front of the sale rack this summer.

So what now? I can’t see how Deco doesn’t wind up at Inter Milan to rejoin Jose Mourinho. I see Eto’o going to AC Milan or Chelsea while Ronaldinho remains the wild card. There are concerns about his fitness and motivation and only Manchester City has remained a constant link as a potential destination.

Where do you think these three superstars will wind up? Share your thoughts below.

  1. Uncle Jason- and you assume LA could get ANOTHER DP spot?? AEG can shell out the $$$’s but unless AEG can obtain the DP there is no chance… and there is no chance LA could get another DP slot…

    reasons being:

    1) LA would have to open cap space just to shell out the required amount for a DP…

    2) LA would have to obtain a DP slot, and quite frankly they have NOTHING to trade…

    3) no team in their right mind would look to trade LA a DP b/c quite frankly, noone would want to face a ronaldinho and beckham tandem

    4) quite simply put, LA would thin their roster out too much that they would force themselves into last place…

    keep dreaming

  2. I’ve also seen dozens of reports that say he has already turned down an offer to go to the Galaxy, so I think that is safely behind us.

  3. RONALDINHO HAS BEEN LINKED TO THE LA GALAXY BY AN ENGLISH TABLOID. AS B.S. AS MOST OF THEM ARE, THIS IS ENTIRELY POSSIBLE AND AEG WOULD BE MORE THAN WILLING TO SHELL OUT THE CASH FOR RONNIE’S MARKETING POWER.

  4. I’m afraid to say it but Ronaldinho’s talents would be wasted her, I think. The games is not fast enough. The beauty of his moves are that a lot of them are done at the highest levels of flow and at full speed. I don’t think the stop, start, chippy, attack the ball mentality of MLS games would be the right venue for them. But, if Ronaldinho were on the Red Bulls, I might care about the club. Until I remember where I am going to see them play. Then, I would stab myself.

  5. i think ronnie will come to MLS in 2 years when he’s 30, the salary cap will be increased and most teams will be in SSS by then for increased revenue. e may even play with Beckham who will be 35 by then and still under contract with the galaxy.

This whole issue would be solved if MLS teams had a chance to play in the Champions League (geographically impossible i know)

  6. If Ronny really wants to play Champions League football next year, forget AC Milan and ManCity. My bet is on Chelsea if Scolari is convinced that his countryman’s mind is right. But I’ve said all along that Ronnie is most likley to stay at Barca, and I still think that’s most likely. After all, his value will only increase if he returns to form.

  7. Dinho to City, Deco to Chelsea, Eto’o’ to Inter. At least 50 million in transfer fees for Barcelona to use on….David Villa

  8. Is Guardiola a moron? The asking price for all three of those players, especially Ronaldinho’s, plummeted with those words. If he doesn’t get whipped by his superiors, I’d be surprised.

  9. What’s that English phrase regarding a loaded lineup…an embarrassment of riches. Ok, all three players have their issues with age, attitude, and fit with the team….but DAMN.

Guardiola’s wife: How was your day, Dear?

Pep: Not bad, sold $100 Million worth of talent.

    Sheesh.

Predictions: Deco to Chelsea to replace Lampard.

    Eto to AC Milan

    Jar-jar sits out the year

    Cheers,

  10. Deco to inter?? Everything I’ve heard has him going to Chelsea under Scolari; I thought that was close to certain. Eto’o goes to AC because they can’t pry adebayor or drogba. Ronaldinho goes probably to City, although maybe Chelsea.

I think it’s a good move for Barcelona. Shoring up their aging defense will allow them to concentrate more on attacking. Not to mention that Dani Alves is almost more of an attacker than defender anyway.

  11. I’m neutral on Deco. I think he can still add something. But I wouldn’t mind not seeing him in the Blaugrana.

In the end, Ronnie will stay. Pep is still open in keeping him and I don’t think Ronnie has anywhere else to go.

Eto’o, I could care less. He’s a cancer and thinks only of himself.

Re-acquiring Pique, and adding Alves, Keita and Caceres is a good start of a makeover.

  12. How ’bout that rumor that MLS offered Ronaldinho 32 Million Euros a year? An offer he apparently shot down. It would be nice if MLS could land a few more superstars that were still in their semi-prime.

  13. Deco in Chelsea to replace Lampard, who head to Milan, where Eto’o ends up, too, but not necessarily in the same jersey. Ronaldihno will get offered big dough by Manchester City, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t end up with one of the big 4, just so they can throw around their “prestige” (or as the rest of the world calls it “money”).
