An own goal and Juan Pablo Angel strike helped the New York Red Bulls get their Argentina tour off to a winning start as they downed Velez Sarsfield, 2-1, on Tuesday morning.

Venezuelan midfielder Jorge Rojas helped open the scoring in the third minute when his corner kick forced the Velez goalkeeper to punch the ball away. The ball hit a Velez defender and went in to make the score 1-0.

Rojas was at the heart of the action on the second goal as well, dribbling into the area before being tackled. Angel pounced on the loose ball and made the score 2-0 in the 17th minute.

Trialists Albert Celades, Jaime Duran and Aklie Edwards all saw action on Tuesday.
