Enjoy your Memorial Day

WaivingFlag

Good morning all. It is the start of a new week but with today being Memorial Day I am sure many of you are going to be spending more time at places like the beaches and parks than in front of the computer. Enjoy your Memorial Day as we honor those who have given their lives in service of the United States.

If there are any soccer topics you would like to discuss today please feel free to do so in the comments section below (I will post MLS Power Rankings soon so keep an eye out for that).

  3. I have to give a soccer themed Memorial Day shout out to my grandfather who served in the Pacific in WWII and shared with me his great love of sports. He took me to a Tampa Bay Rowdies game many years ago and neither one of us had a clue about what was going on but we still had a great time.

  5. Ives,

Did you catch what the General Manager at Bayern Munich said about Landon Donovan?

    Uli Hoeness:

“The only concrete suggestion Klinsmann had was to sign Landon Donovan and (reserve team coach) Hermann Gerland said he would never even have played him in the reserve team.”

The dig was intended as a reply to Klinsman’s claims that he wasn’t allowed to do make any of the moves he wanted with the team, but it is kind of a nasty crack about Donovan. I tohught he did okay in his short time there, but its clear the management didn’t like Klinsman (which makes you wonder why they hired him) and they were not impressed with Donovan.

  6. Ives, you should do a piece on Benny Feilhaber and a possible return to form. I don’t think the kid ever really ever fell OUT of form. The injury just came at a time when he was having a slump. He’s still got all the skills he had before, and even a better attitude. He’s had time to look at his career wit his first major injury, that can really change a player.

    Happy Memorial Day.

  9. If any readers are current or former military, thank you for your service. Same to you military wives/husbands and family, you guys sometimes have to make the biggest sacrifice of all.

I may be a liberal, but I know where my right to be one came from.
