Four U.S. national team players will have a chance to add some silverware to their collections this weekend before taking part in upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Tim Howard, Maurice Edu, DaMarcus Beasley and Jose Francisco Torres will all have a chance to win trophies with their respective clubs teams. Howard leads the way as he mans the goal for Everton in the FA Cup final against Chelsea (10am, Fox Soccer Channel). Howard will attempt to add a second FA Cup winner's medal to his resume while Edu and Beasley will see their Glasgow Rangers face Falkirk in the Scottish Cup final. Edu did not train this week due to a thigh injury so his status is in serious question. Beasley has not figured into Rangers plans lately so he's unlikely to dress.

And then there is Torres, who will lead Pachuca into the second leg of its Mexican League Championship series against UNAM Pumas on Sunday (8pm, Telemundo). Pumas won the first leg, 1-0, but Pachuca will still be favored to win it all at home.

Will you be making time to watch the Americans bring home the hardware? Think Howard can duplicate his FA Cup semifinal heroics in the final? Do you see Torres scoring a game-winner for Pachuca?

  1. I’m pulling for Howard, but I can’t see them besting a Chelsea side still bitter from that “loss” to Barca in the CL Semi… A loss that they did not deserve. They put up a better fight over two games than United and I can’t see Everton pulling it out.

Their best chance is going to be Timmy putting up the goose-egg and hoping for penalties.

Edu might not play at all by the look of it, and Beasley probably won’t even get to hold the trophy if they do win it.

I hope El Gringo plays and knocks in another golazo, but he did play 90 in the first leg. He has been an early sub-off in the past.

  2. Kirovski won the equivalent of the current Club World Cup the next year with Dortmund. But he was not part of the CL winning side.

  3. Viva El Grino Torres!

Torres played well the first half nice passing, good runs, but the 2nd half he was missing passess, and looked tired.

    Go Rangers!

    Go Everton!

  4. Chelsea wins this one without a doubt. Sorry Howard fans, he alone cannot do it; too much from Drogba, Anelka, Malouda, Lampard and oh Essien

  5. I REALLY hope Edu plays. I wonder if his injury is a result of that extremely nasty tackle he received in the last game… it was ugly.

He seems like the quick-healing type.

  6. “Anybody know if Howard’s prior FA Cup win is the biggest soccer trophy any US player as ever won? Maybe a better forum for this question is Ives’ Q&A…”

Kirovski won a Champions League medal with Borussia Dortmund didn’t he? 😉

  7. While not going for a trophy, Carlos Bocanegra and Rennes need a win at Marseille on Saturday and some help to make 5th place and a Europa League spot for next season.
