Real Madrid debuted the most expensive team in soccer history on Saturday and the start was a winning one for Manuel Pellegrini's men.

Real Madrid legend Raul and Cristiano Ronaldo scored goals in Real Madrid's 3-2 victory vs. Deportivo La Coruna. Kaka didn't score, but his beautiful pass on Raul's goal started the proceedings. The winning goal wasn't produced by any of the superstars, but by midfielder Lassana Diarra.

Here are the highlights:

What did you think of Real Madrid's performance? Think the star-studded squad will edge Barcelona for the La Liga title? Still see problems emerging from a team loaded with attacking talent but still lacking a bit defensively?

  1. Whether you love or hate Real, this game was incredibly entertaining. Great back and forth and some very nice goals.

Real will be unbeatable by week 10 (not that they’re going to lose any games until that point). During a few sequences yesterday, they were absolutely clicking. Depor tripled Ronaldo, but then they have Raul, Kaka, and Benzema waiting for the ball. And Ronaldo, with the exception of a couple awful set pieces, looked very dangerous.

Can’t wait to see what these guys do to Barca’s aging back line. Bring on the Blah-grana!

  2. The “cules” will fold before the mighty Galacticos.

Sorry I just had to, anyway I thought Real played well, Ronaldo needs some more time to just adjust to the defenders of La Liga, they don’t close him down as much as Premiership defenders do so it’s harder for him to go past them, the defense is still a bit shaky, but Pepe and Ramos didn’t start.

Going to be an interesting year.

  3. Maybe not his fault but Manuel Pellegrini’s biggest mistake was selling Robben. How I wish he was still Real Madrid player.
