It's a hot, but slow, Soccer Saturday, with MLS, Mexican League and international friendlies running the show today.
If you have been watching, or plan to watch, today's soccer action, feel free to come here to share your thoughts, opinions and play-by-play on all the games in play today.
I will provide a specific MLS preview/commentary post later today, as well as a Galaxy-FC Barcelona post for tonight, but for now, make this your destination to discuss all the soccer happenings on this first day of August.
Enjoy

ESPN reporting that Bocanegra scored for Rennes today in a losing effort to Guingamp.
Watching 2003/2004 Invincibles vs. Liverpool and wetting myself. Wenger is brilliant for constructing that side and I still believe he can build another trophy winning side before he leaves the game.
Reports are that Jermaine Jones won’t be available until the last week of August.
Go NY. Can’t drop points if they’re not playing
The Galaxy game is going to be on Fox Soccer Channel at 8pm Pacific.
And aslo on fox sports esponal I only get this channel just hit sap and you can hear the game in english though the spanish commentators are better.
Yeah what about the galaxy
and round of applause for Cooper
what channel is the Gals playing on?
GO sportsmanship
Jermaine Jones is injured, I believe. I heard he won’t be available until late September.
“no schedule ives? you’re slacking!”
He’s on vacation!
(I’m excited to just find out today that my Cablevision provides mun2. Woohoo!)
Charlie Davies played for 90 for Sochaux today in a friendly. Did not score but went the entire game.
It appears Jermaine jones didn’t make the schalke squad for todays cup match. Does anyone know if he’s injured ? Or what the deal is?
Go DYnamo.
Go Crew.
Waiting for the schedule of MLS friendlies.
i’ll be watching maxwell, ibrahimovic, messi, henry, alves, puyol, pique, xavi, iniesta, krkic, and too bad there will not be keirrison to go against the la galaxy.
no schedule ives? you’re slacking!
Arshavin with two beautiful goals for Arsenal against Atletico Madrid. 2-1 to the Gunners. All goals in the last 10 minutes, the winner from an impossible angle.
I believe it just means that the shot off the penalty did not score, whether it was a save or a shank doesnt appear on ESPN soccernet
Does “pen miss” also translate into the keeper saving it? Or just missing the goal completely?

Cooper doesn’t miss penalties.
Mike Grella (Leeds vs. Burnley) scored in leeds final friendly. Leeds won 2-1. Kid went from Duke to League 1 and is playing pretty well. Michael Bradley (BMG vs. FSV Frankfurt) missed a penalty. Second coach that gives Mike that role and hopefully he won’t miss many more. BMG won 2-1 in a cup match.
