The best of the best in Women's Pro Soccer will compete against Umea IK in Sunday's WPS All-Star Game.

Umeåis the top team in Damallsvenskan (Swedish premier division) and has won seven Swedish championships in the last four seasons (2005-2008). In 2007 and 2008 Umeåfinished runner-up in the UEFA Women's Cup with Marta on its roster for the five years before she joined the WPS.

Obviously, the Brazilian star was a shoe-in for this inaugural All-Star team, but an even vote from players, fans, coaches, and the media selected the the 18 woman roster. With players from all seven teams, the All-Stars had their first team practice on Saturday and will start the following players on Sunday (FSN and Comcast 5PM ET)

  1. Isn’t this like the NBA all stars (playing seriously) vs. the basketball champions of Italy? I’m sure Umea is a good team but the best female players come here.

  3. I wish the players currently in the Euro could have been here. I know it has been beaten to death, but when I saw the line up for the WPS team, it again struck me how many of the league’s top players are absent. Hopefully, wps will learn from this going forward.
