Emmanuel Adebayor banned for three matches

Adebayor

Having already received charges of both violent and improper conduct this week, Emmanuel Adebayor was officially handed a three-match ban for his stomp of Robin Van Persie. This means that he'll miss out on what is going to be perhaps the most important Manchester derby Old Trafford will ever see.

Manchester City was forced to accept the ban, and will now go searching for strikers in advance of Saturday's match. Now without Adebayor, injuries are already keeping Roque Santa Cruz, Robinho, Benjani, and most likely Carlos Tevez out of action.

Along with the match against Manchester United, Adebayor will be unavailable for the Carling Cup against Fulham on next Wednesday, and the following league fixture against West Ham. Adebayor has until September 30 to respond to the improper conduct charges for the celebration.

What do you think of Adebayor's suspension? Can City get a win against United? Think the ban is harsh? Should he miss more for the celebration? Share your thoughts below.

  1. I’m quite glad he got this ban. I saw the video for the first time yesterday and there is no way he can pretend it was an accident. The fact that he would even say it wasn’t intentional and it was a reaction play says a lot about him. He’s definitely a jerk-off. That said, if United don’t win it will be a huge blow for them and I will be bitterly disappointed. United definitely have better players in every position aside from goalie and possibly center mid hands down, especially now…

  2. Of all the strikers they have bought who would have thought Bellamy would be the only one not suspended or injuried. Haha.

I think they will still give United a good game.
