The day many American soccer fans have been waiting for has finally arrived, the day FIFA 10 makes it to the United States.

The world reknown EA Sports soccer game hit stores across North America on Tuesday, and United States soccer gamers are now finally able to get their paws on the latest installment in the FIFA series.

The game, which was released in Europe on Oct. 2, features 50 stadiums and has a plethora of new additions, such as 360-degree dribbling, the Russian Premier League and Seattle Sounders FC.

On the international scene, the Netherlands are (finally) fully licensed as is the U.S. national team, whose overall player ratings have seen a boost after a relatively successful year. Mexico, England and Brazil are also among the many other licensed national teams.

FIFA 10, which includes 30 leagues, 500 club teams and 41 national teams, is receiving its fair share of rave reviews from credible gaming outlets, such as Gamespot and Official PS Magazine. Well-respected IGN even went as far as saying, "FIFA 10 is without a doubt the best soccer game yet … that no fan will want to be without."

The game is available on numerous platforms, including Playstation3, Xbox360 and Nintendo Wii, with $60 being the going rate for the game.

If you have yet to see the game, here is a look at it:

Are you getting a copy of FIFA today? Which teams are you most likely to use this year? More of a Pro Evolution Soccer or Football Manager kind of guy/gal? Would you play in an SBI FIFA 10 tournament/league?

  4. I had been wondering this too. They’ve got all the relevant data to make Qwest Field and Soldier Field because of the Madden games.

I’m fine with the generic stadiums for the most part. Stadion Europa is particularly nice to look at.

  5. Horrible. In the first one you didn’t even get to play in the World Cup. The celebrations for qualifying were the end.

Then they came out with FIFA 06 WC Germany later. If they pull that again, I’m gonna scream.

  6. Tralfmadorian on 360. Probably will be playing all night. Count me in for a SBI league too. I’d also love to get a USMNT 10v10 team going. I’m cool with any role but prefer SMF or fullback. My formation for online games with the USMNT is a custom 3-4-3.

  7. Pro-Evo has fallen off MAJOR in the current gen. PES09 was actually worse than 08.

All PES has going for it now is the Master League, but the FIFA Live Season and 10v10 is miles better. Play PES if you enjoy playing alone, but for online players FIFA is definitely top dog now.

Even the depth of strategy gap that PES had for so long is all but disappeared. FIFA now has custom set plays, custom buildup, team chemistry, and a formation editor that is just as flexible as PES.

I prefer the FIFA speed of gameplay too. PES is very mechanical and fast with lots of pinball passing. FIFA uses physics and player interaction as the meat and it ends up feeling much more rewarding when you master it, IMO. Then when you add in the graphics, commentary, and overall presentation, FIFA is clearly the better game.

  8. In the older versions, you could only dribble in 45 degree angles, basically north, northwest, west, etc. Now you can dribble at 0, 1, 2, so on and so forth. Definitely more refined, definitely taking some getting used to.

  9. You can choose a home stadium for each team, I chose the Stadio Olympico, and then changed it’s name to RFK Memorial Stadium. Sure, it’s not actually it, but it looks kinda close, other than having seats in the end and a track, and it’s cool to have that name pop up there.

  10. Got it at midnight.

Passing is much more fun, shooting is much harder, the new dribbling engine is taking some time to get used to.

The USMNT may still not be as good as we’d like, but it is much less frustrating to play with, but will make you miss Charlie again.

Overall, I give it a big thumbs up.

  11. Since the PC version is low demand, it didn’t leave the wearhouses until yesterday, it will probably be in stock later in the week. You’re better off ordering online since PC games in general are harder and hard to get in stores.

  12. You’re right I misread the release, it’s supposed to be released today but is awaiting approval from MS and Sony to hit the servers, so not official yet.

  13. Question for any SBI FIFA10 PC Users in the US: I cannot find this game at any local store. Retailers Best Buy, Target and WalMart do not list it. Doesn’t even seem that Amazon.com is carrying this domestically.

Is the only option to just buy it directly online from EA? Liked the ability to install the disc on two home computers, and having a hardcopy manual to flip through. . . appreciate any answers or info.

  14. Wait until November 3rd when PES 2010 is released. It may not have every team in the world licensed, but the game play is as realistic as it gets! I downloaded the demo from the UK playstation store. Players make great runs off the ball. Defenders actually defend. Etc. And the graphics are top notch! Overall, it plays more like a real soccer game.

  15. When are they going to go away from generic stadiums? It is sad that FIFA is EA’s most selling game, but they put less money into than say Madden.

  16. The only thing I miss from the older versions of FIFA is the ability to practice. I loved being able to work on corners and set pieces in a practice mode before being thrown into the game and not having that part of the game down
