SBI wins U.S. Soccer Best Blog Award

WinnerBlog_300x100

For those of you who may have missed the news on Wednesday, Soccer By Ives won U.S. Soccer's Best Soccer Blog Award. The award, voted on by fans on USSoccer.com, is SBI's second straight. Congratulations to the other nominees in a category that has grown stronger with each passing year.

I want to thank all of the SBI readers who helped make it happen, and also thank staff writers Travis Clark and Gianfranco Panizo for helping me make SBI the site you readers keep coming back to.

We are working hard on 2010, and on making SBI even better, so look for changes and improvements in the future.

Once again, thank you to all of you for supporting SBI and for helping us win this award.

  1. Congratulations, Ives, Travis and Gianfranco, on the recognition. It’s well deserved, I think, as SBI is my favorite site covering any sport or team and the only one I occasionally post on. Keep it up.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.

  2. You’re the freaking man. Congrats. I hope you can take a step back every now and then and realize how much you’re doing for soccer in America. Not likely since you seem to work 24/7, but still… it’s much appreciated.

  3. Congrats Ives! SBI is #1!! Woohoo!!!

(SBI-Thanks man, and as the first person to post the first comment on the original SBI more than three years ago, thank you for helping get this all started.)

  4. Congrats Ives and crew. Definitely deserved it. Your site is a big reason why I am able to follow the game here (and drop the euro-snob attitude). Now, I just have to decide: Chivas USA or LA Galaxy.

  5. Great news but no surprise. I pretty much plan my TV viewing by the “This Weekend’s Soccer on TV” segment, and like all the tidbits of info on MLS I can’t get anywhere else. CONGRATS!

  6. Very well deserved. Even 5 or 10 years ago, it took a lot of effort to follow soccer. Sites like this make it much easier and more enjoyable.

  7. Congrats Ives! I really appreciate the work you put in to keep American fans up to date on the soccer world. I became a huge fan of soccer in the 06′ cup, and this blog has helped dramatically to keep my passion alive. It’s a blog like yours that is contributing to the growth of the sport in the USA. So thank you and enjoy the holidays!

  9. Congrats Ives! Well deserved. From one of the ‘gray beards’ on the board this is tremendous! American soccer supporters have much to be thankful for in 2010,…SBI, a national team competing in its sixth straight World Cup and MLS heading into its 15th season.

  10. Agreed – blogs like this increase my interest in MLS, and I hope the league will recognize their importance to its success and to the game in general in the US.

  11. Congrats, Ives. If you updated SBI as often as I check it, you’d never have time to eat. SBI – along with widespread access to matches online and the other blogs I’ve found through yours – is a big reason I follow the MLS more closely than ever.

Thanks for the great work, and looking forward to what you have in store for next year.

  13. Congratulations Ives, Travis, and Gianfranco! You guys definitely deserve it. Best blog by a mile. First site I check every morning and the last site I check every night. It is amazing how your site (and the other great blogs out there) has changed access to soccer information and how I now take for granted what used to be almost impossible to find. Keep up the great work in 2010!
