Los Angeles Galaxy forward Edson Buddle was named player of the month for April after his seven goals helped the Galaxy to a 4-0-1 record.

Buddle was voted the MLS Player of the Month by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) capping off the best month in the 28 year old forward’s entire career. The run of seven goals in his first four matches not only set an MLS record, but catapulted the forward into the conversation for a spot on United States national team.

The award is the second time that the Galaxy forward earned Player of the Month accolades. He was named player of the month in August 2002, while with the Columbus Crew.

What do you think of Buddle’s month? Should he be included in the roster for South Africa? Is there anyone else that you think should have been considered?

  1. He deserved the recognition and definitely deserves consideration for the USMNT. I still think he’s a mediocre player who has merely played above himself this past month, and I don’t think he’d be an asset for the USMNT. However, we won’t know for sure until we see him on the bigger stage. Maybe he isn’t a mediocre player who is playing above himself; maybe he’s a good player who has historically played below his capabilities.

  2. He has to go to Jersey and quite possibly SA, too. EJ also trying his best to give Bob a reason to call him in for camp with his two goal performance in the last game.

  3. grant wahl has some lengthier quotes from Bob on buddle, and some others as well. I’m confident he’ll get a call to the camp, but i really have no expectations for him. He seems like he might have the edge given bobs comments about being able to handle the jump. He seems to me, to be a better fit for the US game. That’s not a knock on gomez, i think he’s just as likely to get a call as buddle, but he plays a different style.

  4. And rightly so in my opinion. Scored some great goals, scored a LOT of them, and scored some important ones. Not too much else you can ask of a striker.
