Clarence Goodson scored his first goal of the Norwegian season on Saturday, netting the equalizer in IK Start's 2-1 win against Sandefjord.

After playing a part in allowing Sandefjord to score in the 28th minute, Goodson responded by heading the ball home off a corner kick six minutes later. IK Start took the lead and the win in the second half off a goal from R.D. Vikstol.

You can see all the goals, including Goodson's, here.

What do you think of Goodson's goal? Think he will be a key part of the U.S. national team for the 2014 cycle?

  1. Good Job Goodson!

I don’t think he will be around for 2014 but will be a solid bench/role player up till we find the players that will. He is great in the air but ok on his feet. He is solid in his positioning also.

If Gooch gets back to preform (and he will get some PT with Milan since they haven’t replaced their older guys) he will be starting in 2014. Then we have a 5-10 other center backs to start looking at…

  2. Average defender in a tiny league but supposedly moving to a very good Danish team. The Danish league is miles better than its norwegian counterpart.

  3. That’s a pretty BS exagerration.

There’s plenty of coverage on Diskerud.Put his name into Google and you’ll see lots of stuff on him. You’re just lazy.

  4. Lol everyone talks like Goodson was hot sh*t in the friendlies leading up to the World Cup. He’s a threat on set pieces but I wasn’t that impressed on defense with him.

  5. I liked Goodson, wished he was given a chance at the WC but I guess BB knows better by starting an out of form Gooch. Since he didn’t play for this WC and instead BB moved Boca to center and put JB at left, would it be fair to say that BB believes JB is better than Goodson?, what you guys think?

  6. Why is there a full post about a boringly average defender, yet whenever Diskerud, an exciting future player, scores or does something of interest, its barely/not mentioned?

  7. Jay,

You proabaly won’t be around in 2014 what with all your other business interests so step aside and let someone else play.

  8. If Goodson had played instead of the other tree during the WC we would have made the last four. If he stays healthy he will be starting in Brazil 2014 so stay tuned because BB screwed up player selections this WC but he will he be gone very soon.

  9. I thought MLS had empty stadiums! Not only was that place empty, I think the capacity was smaller than my high school basketball gym.

  10. “Right now Goodson is our 4th best CB or thereabouts. He has a chance to get better. It’s way too early to know what kind of player he’ll be by 2014”

  12. Goodson is a known quality who will assist with qualifying. But if he is a regular starter, we’re in trouble.

  13. he’ll be a nice guy to bring in for those random friendlies when his league is in the off season or break. At this rate I think we’re going to be seeing some gonzalez, possibly franklin and if his development continues, tim ream later on as well. Obviously they’re not the only ones but those come to mind.

  14. Ehh He’s average and he’ll be 32 next world cup. I’d like to think that we’d have some better centerbacks by then.
