The European club season isn't quite here yet, but that doesn't mean there aren't some intriguing match-ups involving European clubs this weekend.

Arsenal, AC Milan, Lyon and Celtic are taking part in the Emirates Cup, while Inter Milan takes on Manchester City in another high-profile friendly American soccer fans can watch on TV. The weekend's action is kicked off tonight with Chivas Guadalajara's opening of a new stadium with the arrival of favorite son Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez and Manchester United.

Major League Soccer is in full swing this week, with eight matches on the schedule. Thierry Henry's MLS debut for the New York Red Bulls will come on Saturday night against the Houston Dynamo, while the suddenly struggling Los Angeles Galaxy look to rebound against the Chicago Fire.

  2. Chicago is definitely going to look like a different team with Ljungberg and Castillo. I hope it pays off…I think they will make a pretty good tandem along with McBride as a target man.

I wonder if either of them play on Sunday vs. the Galaxy?

  3. thanks, pretty interesting move. I had thought about an intra-mls trade, but the fire never came to mind. Dont know how its going to work, but good for chicago trying to keep up in the MLS arms war, so to speak

  4. Damn! I really wanted to watch the Manchester-Chivas game. You got my hopes up, Ives, by saying it was on FSC.

    (SBI-That’s my fault. Mis-read a schedule.)

  5. The FSC website doesn’t list it nor does DirecTV. I’ve been looking all week for coverage of this match and have only seen it listed on ESPN Deportes, which I don’t have.

  6. The MUFC v Chivas game isn’t listed on my guide for FSC tonight, anyone sure if that’s a mistake or not? Was really hoping to watch how Chicharito plays each half. Help?
