If the Seattle Sounders hope to maintain defense of its U.S. Open Cup title, they'll have to best a persistent nemesis the Los Angeles Galaxy (10 p.m.) in the quarterfinal.

The two sides head to the Northwest and Tukwila, Wash. and the Starfire Sports Complex for their third meeting of the season. In the previous two matches, Los Angeles won both by a combined score of 7-1, including last Sunday at the Home Depot Center.

The Galaxy, on a record setting pace in league play, has a good a chance at multiple trophies, and they'll have to get it done in front of a hostile crowd to advance. Landon Donovan is not available, getting time to rest along with striker Edson Buddle after their World Cup trip. The winner advances to face Chivas USA in the semifinals.

  1. ahh yes but it felt good to win against the Galaxy even if it was an Open Cup B team.

As far as Germany goes, it just goes to show you that some of the punditry that goes on is just a farce. Germany were the darlings of the tournament because they scored so much against some world class teams and Spain’s form slipping etc..

Just goes to show that at this level we really can not rely on anyones predictions and just have to wait and see what happens.

    and on that note:
    Spain 2 – Netherlands 1 🙂
