Ladies and gentlemen, start your Rapids.

With Colorado in the thick of the playoff hunt and exuding its best form of the season, Gary Smith's side is rewarded with home fixtures against the expansion Philadelphia Union and league-cellar-dweller D.C. United. Yes, Philadelphia is not a pushover, but Peter Nowak's team is much different on the road than at the friendly confines of PPL Park.

Colorado, too, plays its best at home, where it hasn't conceded a goal in its last four matches and has outscored opponents 10-0 in that time. If there was ever a week to put all your eggs in one team's basket, it's this one.

Here are this week's player rankings by position:

FANTASY MLS WEEK 27 PLAYER RANKINGS

GOALKEEPERS

  1. Matt Pickens, COL – The matchups speak for themselves
  2. Donovan Ricketts, LA – Ricketts should be a fine play considering his SuperClasico matchup
  3. Kasey Keller, SEA – Perhaps the hottest keeper out there, with seven clean sheets in his last 10 matches
  4. Nick Rimando, RSL – Risk involved if Jason Kreis elects to rest his star keeper after a CONCACAF Champions League fixture mid-week
  5. Jon Busch, SJ – Two matches for Busch this week, including one against the floundering team that cut him prior to the season, Chicago
  6. Bouna Coundoul, NY – Red Bulls match up well against Wizards at RBA
  7. Will Hesmer, CLB – With NY even with Columbus, Crew need to step it up at home against San Jose
  8. Dario Sala, DAL – Nice home matchup for still-streaking FCD
  9. Sean Johnson, CHI – Has two matches this week, though it's hard to count on anyone from the Fire these days
  10. Stefan Frei, TOR – Seattle is a team on a mission, but Frei has already shut out the Sounders once this year

DEFENDERS

  1. Drew Moor, COL – Sebastien Le Toux could cause the Rapids some problems, but Colorado definitely has the advantage over both opponents this week
  2. Marvell Wynne, COL – Kosuke Kimura also makes for a good play this week
  3. Sean Franklin, LA – Galaxy defense in need of a bounce-back showing
  4. Omar Gonzalez, LA – Gonzalez' return to central defense should help L.A. shut Chivas down
  5. Todd Dunivant, LA – Chivas has been shut out five times in its last eight matches
  6. James Riley, SEA – As stated above with Keller, Seattle's defense has turned in some fine performances over the last 10 matches
  7. Jamison Olave, RSL – Top-scoring MFLS defender has a stellar matchup against New England
  8. Brandon McDonald, SJ – Has at least two fantasy points in six of his last seven matches, and has two matches this week
  9. Tim Ream, NY – Fantasy numbers have been boosted by Red Bulls' thriving attack; Has at least three fantasy points in five of his last seven matches
  10. Heath Pearce, DAL – Has been a constant for a team that has been hit hard by the injury bug

MIDFIELDERS

  1. Sebastien Le Toux, PHI – Unlikeliest of all MVP candidates has two matches this week and has goals in three of his last four games
  2. David Ferreira, DAL – His goal against Chicago in Week 10 was the beginning of his torrid stretch that hasn't ended
  3. Steve Zakuani, SEA – Another Nkufo goal, another Zakuani assist; Akron product is in for a strong finish
  4. Chris Wondolowski, SJ – Hat trick hero has obliterated his personal season-highs, has 12 goals on the year and two matches this week
  5. Guillermo Barros Schelotto, CLB – According to the Columbus Dispatch, he's unlikely to make the trip to Guatemala for CCL play, meaning he's likely to see the pitch in league play over the weekend
  6. Javier Morales, RSL – CCL free kick shows he's back; Will he see extended playing time this weekend though?
  7. Mehdi Ballouchy, NY – After all the DP signings and hoopla, Ballouchy could end up being the missing piece to making the NY attack unbeatable
  8. Brian Mullan, COL – Winger's service could lead to a multiple-assist week for deadline acquisition
  9. Jeff Larentowicz, COL – Should be a +/- maven this week
  10. Pablo Mastroeni, COL – Likewise
  11. Brad Davis, HOU – On a mission to finish out the season strong
  12. Geovanni, SJ – Two-match week should be beneficial for Quakes' DP
  13. Joel Lindpere, NY – Has an assist in three of his last five matches
  14. Andy Williams, RSL – If for no other reason than RSL should have a nice goal differential this week, although the Jamaican winger does have six assists on the year
  15. Freddie Ljungberg, CHI – Fire's attack has been downright putrid, but if you're in need of a high-risk, high-reward scenario, this two-match week could potentially be it

FORWARDS

  1. Omar Cummings, COL – If I were to put money down on the top fantasy scorer of the week, I'd bet the farm on Cummings
  2. Conor Casey, COL – Even though he's suspended (card accumulation) for the Rapids' first match of the week, he could light it up in the second match against D.C.
  3. Landon Donovan, LA – Had two assists in the last SuperClasico
  4. Edson Buddle, LA – Had two goals in the last SuperClasico
  5. Blaise Nkufo, SEA – Took longer than most expected, but Nkufo is making a legitimate impact in Seattle
  6. Fredy Montero, SEA – Montero no long shouldering the full scoring load for the Sounders, but still just as dangerous
  7. Juan Pablo Angel, NY – Already owns a brace – and his finest fantasy performance of the year – against KC this season
  8. Alvaro Saborio, RSL – Was an absolute star the last time RSL and Revolution met; Only question is how much playing time he'll see
  9. Thierry Henry, NY – If he returns from his knee injury, he's a must-play against the Wizards
  10. Mac Kandji, COL – Will get the start Wednesday night and makes for a sneaky play

COACHES

  1. Gary Smith, COL
  2. Frank Yallop, SJ
  3. Bruce Arena, LA
  4. Sigi Schmid, SEA
  5. Jason Kreis, RSL
  6. Schellas Hyndman, DAL
  7. Hans Backe, NY
  8. Peter Nowak, PHI
  9. Robert Warzycha, CLB
  10. Carlos de los Cobos, CHI

  1. Loyd is a Defender. Rogers is a Mid. Though you’re right. Using one of those many transfers left to pick up an uninjured mid sure would be smart.
