The Carling Cup's third round gets underway on Tuesday in England, with Tottenham-Arsenal being the match of the day, but a bevy of Americans could potentially be in action elsewhere.

Bolton faces Burnley, Everton meets Brentford, Wolverhampton squares off with Notts County, Fulham visits Stoke City and West Ham travels to Sunderland in matches (all beginning at 2:45 p.m.) that could feature U.S. players.

Maurice Edu's Rangers FC is also involved in domestic cup play when the Scottish Premier League leaders take on Dunfermline Athletic (2:45 p.m.) in the third round of the Scottish CIS Insurance Cup.

Outisde of the United Kingdom, the Bundesliga schedule resumes on Tuesday, with DaMarcus Beasley, Steve Cherundolo and the rest of Hannover 96 facing Werder Bremen (2 p.m., GOLTV) as part of a three-match slate.

If you will be watching any or all of Tuesday's matches either on television or Internet feed, please feel free to share any thoughts, opinions or play-by-play in the comments section below. Enjoy the action!

  1. Lets see…how many defenders did Grant bring in this year? Winston Reid, Ben Haim and Lars Jacobsen, not to mention dropping from the line up at times. I think Specs could do with a league change. Boca isn’t exactly the fastest and he’s seemed to make a career played as an outside back in France

  2. And it isn’t as though his replacements have been holding clean sheets. OTOH, he’s been down (formwise) so long he don’t know what up looks like anymore.

  3. and Fulham are now behind 2-0 because of two goalkeeping errors by Schwarzer, add that to the countless errors against Blackburn and he’s lost his place in the team for sure now. Stockdale will be the new starter

  4. Yank…WHU season ticket holder…and HUGE Johnny Specs fan. I love him, and it pains me to say this, he is not nearly on the radar for playing time at UP this year. He got tons of minutes last season due to injuries, but probably will not feature much this year (even in the Cup games). Shame he was finally put in at right back, and it happened to be against MUFC. Anyway, I would guess he will see out contract and sign somewhere new in the summer.

  5. No, I know he’s been abysmal. However, it’s the freaking Carling Cup for crying out loud. Give him a chance to re-establish himself. He has got to be feeling decrepit about himself.

  6. Have you seen his recent performances? Not knocking him for good but he isnt up to par at The moment, and well he has limited pace. Not good trait to not have in The epl

  7. dudes, Boca’s team is top of the French division. Dude gets flak but he scores goals which is good especially for a defender and he just knows where to play and fill his role. Seems he was made for the French league.
