The No. 3 Maryland Terrapins continued their unstoppable form on Friday night with a convincing 2-0 victory over No. 11 Virginia. Casey Townsend scored just 1 minute, 32 seconds into the match for his third goal in as many games.

John Stertzer provided insurance for Maryland just two minutes after halftime with a header to double the lead. Maryland goalkeeper Zac MacMath recorded his ACC-leading ninth shutout despite missing a couple of key starters in defense in front of him.

Virginia, meanwhile, has hit a poor patch of form since scoring 10 against Alabama A&M three weeks ago. The Cavaliers have managed only one win in their last four matches, averaging less than a goal a game.

No. 10 California saved it until late, but Paul Davis' 105th minute goal gave the Golden Bears a 2-1 victory over Oregon State. Davis played provider in Cal's first goal, crossing to Steve Birnbaum, who headed it in from 15 yards out.

Oregon State equalized three minutes after the halftime restart with a Travis Sanchez goal. Oregon State fired off five shots in the first overtime period compared to none for California, but the Bears' first effort in the second overtime turned out to be decisive. With the win, California improved to 6-1-1 in the Pac 10 and remained in the driver's seat for the conference crown.

No. 12 Monmouth also needed overtime, overcoming St. Francis in the 99th minute for a 2-1 win. Ryan Kinne got Monmouth on the board in the 35th minute with a free kick from 23 yards out. Tobi Iguade snatched a dramatic equalizer eight minutes from time with a shot from distance that found the bottom corner. Kinne added to his point total with a corner that found the head of Erkko Puranen to give Monmouth the victory.

No. 16 Charlotte continued its impressive run of form with a 3-0 thrashing of Saint Joseph's. Andres Cuero banged home a second-half brace, while James Evans added a goal of his own. The 49ers have won eight straight matches, scoring 16 goals while surrending only three during that span.
