College Soccer Weekend Preview

Ncaa

After a Tuesday and Wednesday of NCAA action that featured several matchups containing two ranked opponents, this weekend will be about survival for the top 25.

Only two matches feature ranked opponents facing off against each other as opposed to six last weekend.

The game of the weekend takes place Saturday night when No. 20 South Carolina travels to take on No. 5 Tulsa. Both the Gamecocks and the Golden Hurricanes are looking to rebound from midweek losses. Tulsa will try and get their defensive issues under control against a South Carolina side that has only two multi-goal games so far this season. Keep an eye out for Tulsa's Austin Neil who has scored eight goals so far this season.

Later on Saturday, No. 25 San Diego State face off against No. 16 UCLA in a battle of Southern California opponents. San Diego State share the 25th spot with James Madison and will look to cement their place in the top 25 but UCLA have yet to drop a single point at Drake Stadium this season.

A number of highly-ranked teams are looking to avoid upsets from strong competition. Despite their recent struggles, Wake Forest have more than enough talent to challenge the fourth-ranked UNC Tarheels on Friday night. Penn State are eyeing a return to the top 25 with a home clash against No. 18 Michigan State, who are 3-2 away from home. Washington will attempt to defend home turf against No. 14 California, who are unbeaten on the road.

Fox Soccer's college game of the week will be a Southern Conference affair as Wofford vs. Davidson starting at 8:00.

  1. 50 Bison Bucks says that doesn’t happen.

BTW for anyone who gets the “Bison Buck” reference…you are seriously awesome.

  2. Don’t really get many games on TV unless FSC or (maybe) the Big Ten Network are airing them. If you’re curious about a particular team, sometimes (rarely) you can find free feeds by going to the official team site and looking at media coverage on the schedule.
