Something special is going on in Spain involving two of the world's finest soccer players.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi maintained their impeccable ways on Saturday, with each netting braces in wins for Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively.

Ronaldo, who scored the game-winning and insurance goals in the final 10 minutes of Real Madrid's 3-1 victory over Hercules, now has 12 goals in league play, including an incredible eight in his last three matches.

Not to be outdone, Messi tallied twice in Barcelona's 5-0 victory over Sevilla and has seven goals in La Liga games. He has scored two in each of Barcelona's last three games, which includes a UEFA Champions League match.

Whose performance impressed you more? Who do you see ending up with more goals? If you had to pick one of the two to have on your team, who would you chose?

  1. I have no idea what league you watch. Why don’t you begin by looking at Real Madrid’s goals allowed statistics.

The ignorance is hard to take sometimes.

  2. Do you supppose tap ins should only count half as much?

Why not institute a rule that says if the goal comes from within the six yard box it only counts as half a goal?

  3. I am more impressed by Ronaldo because he is playing in a new system for a new manager. Before the season started, some “pundits” were saying that he would have to play a supporting role under Mourinho.

Messi is Messi. He knows the system, knows the team, knows the league . . . if he stays healthy, he’ll always be in the running for the Pichichi.
