Domestic cup games overseas resume on Wednesday, with a few United States men's national team players potentially seeing the pitch.

Eric Lichaj is starting but Brad Guzan has surprisingly given way to Brad Friedel for Aston Villa's Carling Cup match against Burnley. Elsewhere in the UK, Maurice Edu's Rangers will face Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup. Both of those games kick off at 2:45 p.m.

In Spain, Jozy Altidore's Villarreal takes on Club Polideportivo Ejido in the first leg of their Copa del Rey tie (3 p.m.), and in Germany, Michael Bradley's Borussia Monchengladbach meets Bayer Leverkusen in a DFB Pokal second-round match (2:30 p.m.).

If you will be watching any or all of Wednesday's games via Internet feed, please feel free to share any thoughts, opinions and play-by-play in the comments section below. Enjoy the action!

  1. I just watched the game on DVR. My wife had to leave because I was yelling at the TV. The announcer was making NO sense regarding the offside rule. Yes, it used to be different. But now it is well-established. The announcer wouldn’t stop pining for the old days and the old rule.

Bendtner’s “offside” position had nothing to do with the goal. The crowd was upset because Bendtner did (inadvertently, it seemed) collide with one of the pursuing defenders.

  2. I was listening (not watching) on-line at work via bundesliga.de, and must have mis-understood what I heard in German.

  3. No. I understood the elfmeter talk. I’m talking about your description of Bradley sealing the win in extra time. That’s quite the spin. He scored the 4th penalty for ‘Gladbach. Then Leverkusen scored their 4th(out of 5 tries.) Then ‘Gladbach scored number 5 and won.

  4. Ja, das ist richtig! It’s not a spin, rather the complete and accurate description auf deutsch (in German).

  5. Bradley’s dangerous cross was headed by a backpedalling Leverkusen defender to the feet of Idrissou, who collected and shot left footed into the bottom right corner. Don’t know if Bradley gets an assist on that.
