Soccer is how my father and I communicated. Soccer brought us together. It’s why I called him to talk. He drove two hours to go to every game together. It’s what we did together. And he passed away last week. And his passing is being honored tonight on the jumboscreen at halftime. And I want to bring more people to see it.

I have been a Metrostars/Red Bulls fan since the league’s inception and have yet to be at a playoff match. I recently made my first trip to the new Red Bull Arena, the playoff clinching match against KC. Being in that stadium again for a playoff match would be incredible! Playoff atmospheres usually are, and I would love to be part of it.

  • Big Chil

(Insert pithy, meaningful, moving essay here) but I don’t live anywhere near NYC, driving, or flying.

  • DJGhostUSA

Because nothing would be better to close the season with a pack Red Bulls Arena, get our 15th win, take the Eastern Conference top spot so we can start the playoffs on the right track.
The team has improved tremendously thanks to Backe & the rest of the coaching staff. Not to mention Marquez & Henry made their presence felt on the field.

  • Older & Wiser

I have been unable to take my 12 year old son to a single game this year. My son is a great fan, avidly tracking transfers in all leagues, and hanging on Red Bull news in particular. He plays with travel and school teams and recently volunteered in goal for his school team after their primary goalkeeper was injured (not having played GK since U-10) because he had prior experience and team mates did not. He’d like to see a game in the season where the Red Bulls went from least to beast.

  • Marty

If I receive the tix, driving to NY from Philly this afternoon with my wife in the car would be more dangerous for me than Ives driving through South Africa on a flat tire through the “gang zones”. The game would be worth it.

  • Mike

I would like to go the game tonight because I am a long life fan. I have been following the Red Bulls since they came into the league in 1996 as the NY/NJ Metrostars. My father played in Giants Stadium for the Cosmos and I would love to take him to the new beautiful stadium.

  • Older & Wiser

My son says Namar to Man U. after Ronney departs is a move that makes tremendous sense.

  • Dan

My brother and I would love to go to a Red Bull game again. We went back in 2004 when Mike Magee was still pretty much a rookie in the league and we decided to cheer for him when he came in as a substitute … not sure why. We still follow him at LA now. We are die hard Philadelphia Union fans and thought the Philadelphia New York game was the best of the season and would like to see if this game is just as good.

I wish I were able to go. Still haven’t made it out to Red Bull Arena because of school and work. I too would write an impassioned argument as to why I would like to go if it were not for a mid-term in my night class 😦

  • not-BrianK

I’d like to show off my rented metallic-blue Ford Focus with heated seats, eat some delicatably greasy linguisa in Newark pre-match, see Juan Pablo score his final brace in the red-and-white, and visit an old aquaintaince in Jersey City post-match for a bulge in my personal onion bag.

  • Zoti

I love the team and have been following since 1996 but I hate Red Bull so I wanna go enjoy the team I love without contributing a dime to Red Bull GMBH.

  • John

What a hypocrite. You like the mob wife that looks down on her husband’s activities but doesn’t mind wearing the mink coat that fell off the back of the truck.

  • Ted H.

I have been a life-long soccer fan and player, but have never been to an MLS game. I recently saw the new RB stadium for the first time, and the impressive structure reminded me of the games I have seen in Europe. After 15 years of following the MLS from a distance, I would love the opportunity to be convinced in person that the MLS is the real-deal!

Thanks! I also follow you avidly on Twitter, great stuff.

  • Brock

Because I’d like to see New york fail to win against the Revs for a record 15th consecutive league match

  • Danny U.

…oh and watching JPA (sans Henry) lead the Red Bulls to the Eastern Conference crown for the first time just makes tonight’s match that much more appetizing.

  • Sal Della Monica

My rent is fairly priced but I am a karate champ! In all honesty, there would be nothing better than saying I was at the last regular season game (and at fan appreciation night) the year the Red Bulls took home the MLS Cup. October 21st, write it down!

To hopefully see Ives unbutton one more button on his black shirt during his podcast after the match! Ho!
