UEFA Champions League: Your Running Commentary

It's a big day in the UEFA Champions League for two teams featuring U.S. men's national team players, as Schalke and Rangers fight to keep their knockout-stage dreams alive on Wednesday.

Maurice Edu is slated to miss Rangers' crucial match with Manchester United as he recovers from his minor knee injury, and the Scottish champions will need to fill that void in order to keep pace with Valencia, whom they trail by two points for second place in Group C. A Rangers loss and a Valencia victory over Bursaspor would eliminate Edu's side.

Over in Group B, Jermaine Jones' Schalke could clinch a spot in the knockout stage with a victory over Lyon and a Benfica loss to Hapoel Tel Aviv; however, the German side could also fall to third place with a loss and a Benfica victory.

Rubin Kazan already defeated FC Copenhagen on Wednesday, 1-0, to keep its hopes in Group D alive. Here's the TV/Internet schedule for the day's remaining games (all start at 2:45 p.m.):

  • DirecTV/Fox Soccer Channel – Rangers vs. Manchester United
  • DirecTV/Fox Soccer Plus/Fox Soccer.tv – Tottenham vs. Werder Bremen

  1. Dumb comment, he played advantage (Fabio was kicked in the chest/face while heading the ball), there was none (he didn’t score), so he gave a penalty…I knew I’d find a United hater on here complaining about the penalty.

  2. Oh my god, you cannot give a penalty after the shot is already taken! Give a yellow card, but the shot was already away.
