Goals from Dilly Duka (Columbus Crew) and Teal Bunbury (Sporting Kansas City) led the way as the MLS Generation adidas side won 2-1 over Real Madrid's reserve side on Thursday.

Duka and Bunbury tallied in the first half to open up a 2-0 lead. Real Madrid Castilla then pulled a goal back in the 68th minute. Despite a team that only brought two listed defenders, the MLS side was able to hang on for the win.

Starters for the Generation adidas squad included Duka, Bunbury, Juan Agudelo, Ike Opara and Stefan Frei. Rising star and Real Salt Lake midfielder Luis Gil also made a short substitute appearance in the second half.

Next up for the squad is Rayo Vallecano on December 7.

  1. based on highlights, Duka looked good, and I guess that was Danny Cruz with acres of space on the left side. Also, it seems like Bunbury and Agudelo could evolve into a great tandem one day for the national team.

  2. Truth. I understand blogs are where posters come to vent and complain but do they have to complain about everything? Are there a ton of harry potter fans in kc or something?

  3. you clearly know very little about international club soccer. reserve players at top clubs are top prospects even if they never make it to the top club. they often become the best players at mid-level clubs or good players on other top clubs. it is obviously still quite an achievement to beat real madrid’s reserves.

  4. based on the lineup, looks like wiseman and hall played fullback with Opara and Brek Shea at CB. I remember reading somewhere that Shea looked good at CB during practice for the U-20’s or something.

It’s not surprised RM dribbled through the center once Opara was taken off for a striker.

  5. newsflash…

most big teams buy big players that block what should be an effortless path into the first team for the clubs youngsters. thats why theyre big.

even barcelona drop bills every summer. it happens. cant understand why people freak out about this.
