  1. Pretty sure he’s talking about Charles Renkken and Sebastian Lletget

I know towards the last few months he wasn’t as consistent but Tristen Bowen is another?

  3. He won’t be supporting any team but the USMNT when he is playing for the USMNT, so who really cares.

Also I’m sure many of us more recent immigrants to the US also root for the countries we came from, that is not unnatural.

  4. Given the competition these guys are going to face if they want a career, if they have no confidence now, they won’t go very far.

If they are overconfident, you needn’t worry. If they can’t back it up, it will quickly and brutally get beaten out of them.

  5. The reason interviewers often don’t do exactly what you just suggested is that your approach could be very interesting or it could be a total mess or it could mean lots of dead air. It’s a little early to be putting themn on the spot especially when they are all just trying to make the team so to speak.

These kids are not here because they are erudite. They may not be media trained or media savvy. You already have posters on here who think Salgado is dumber than rocks just because maybe he doesn’t speak that well. A 17 year old American professional soccer player who is not articulate on camera is not necessarily stupid.

These short hits are just meant to give you a quick shot of what the kid is like, no time for in depth stuff. I doubt Ives and his crew have to time to edit 5 minutes worth of conversation down to a minute and a half.

  6. This kid supported Ghana when they played the USMNT in the World Cup. He’s egotistical and I’ve heard his family is intrusive into his success.

    With that said…….Cap him now!!!!!!
This kid is gonna be special.

  7. Enjoying the “spotlights” so we can put a face with the name.

Despite this not being my profession, the only suggestion I’d submit is to the person conducting the interviews:

Discontinue asking rhetorical style questions and don’t provide answers within the question: ie giving him optional soundbites.

Try to leave it more open-ended and let the player formulate the answer approach.

I’ve noticed the above in nearly every interview. Aside from that, appreciate the effort and keep up the good work.

  8. Nice to see that we’ve come so far that our boys actually have this self-belief. Is it fair to say that overconfidence could be troubling? A good worry to have, no doubt about it.

  9. It’s becomming more apparantthrough these interviews that this groups knows they are the real deal and without saying it i think they feel they can win it all.
