The Los Angeles Galaxy kick off their home season opener tonight against the New England Revolution at Home Depot Center in the Revs first match of the season (8pm, Galavision).

The Galaxy comes off an impressive 1-0 victory against the Seattle Sounders in Seattle last Tuesday, and will be short-handed yet again, with goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts, striker Juan Pablo Angel and defender Omar Gonzalez all out of the starting lineup for the second straight match.

The Revs will be looking to start 2011 with a good result after a disappointing 2010 that saw New England miss the playoffs.

SBI will be providing commentary from tonight's match so please feel free to follow along here. As always, you are welcome to share your own thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

  1. The Spanish announcers have great nicknames for most of the players. Also a fondness for using full names, if you ever want to know an MLS player’s middle name, watch a Telefutura/Galavision broadcast.

  2. I wouldn’t be surprised if most teams take a bunker approach against LA, especially at the HDC. Unless you have the offensive firepower to match, you’ll get buried if you don’t. LA’s going to have to show that they have the poise and patience to break down defenses stacked against them. For the Revs – considering the injuries (hard to believe at the start of the season) – a good point on the road.

  3. The Spanish language commentators are speaking about Stuart Holden’s injury right now. I really wish I spoke Spanish…

  4. Thanks, but I wouldn’t have asked the question about streams if I had Galavision (which Ives mentioned in the first paragraph)

At this point I’m giving up.

  5. All three of the Galaxy players were offside on the initial strike. On the rebound, the first player to hit it was offide.
