The Atlantic Cup battle begins tonight as I-95 rivals D.C. United and the New York Red Bulls square off in a battle of Eastern Conference foes.
Both teams are coming off convincing 3-0 victories, with the Red Bulls looking to carry over the momentum from a 3-0 win against San Jose. D.C. United throttled Toronto FC as Charlie Davies impressed in his first start for D.C.
SBI will be providing live commentary on tonight's match so please feel free to follow along here. As always, you are welcome to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

Like congrats on winning rookie of the year?
Oh, please. How many homegrown players have NY signed? More than most of the league, I believe. Including Juan Agudelo, who last time I checked is helping the USMNT… but that can’t be right, since NY is destroying American soccer and harming the national team.
This is just a shot in the dark here…but would you happen to work for the USSF? Say… in the capacity of president?
Well then by logic there genius all teams should only field 1 or 2 Americans and have the easy way out and just bring foreigners(unlike RSL or FCD who are building from the bottom up). The USMNT depends on MLS. Last time I remember MLS is an American league and the best way to promote and enhance soccer here is to give playing time. RB is just like Arsenal. An english team with pure foreigners nicknamed the United Nations. Pathetic!
Haha there’s a lot of hostility on this board. I didn’t know I could eurk somebody with such a simple statement. You must be an unpleasant person to be around.
You must be some sort of genius, everyone else thought he was going to be worthless.
Pathetic? I don’t care that they’re foreigners. It’s about results Juan. And about playing attractively. I’m an RB supporter and I’m ecstatic. Frankly if we had better Americans to choose from, they would be playing. Destroying American soccer? What a stupid comment from a clueless fool. And I hope that Clever Hans stays right where he is and continues what he’s trying to build.
Agreed
He’s so gracious and classy to the supporters as well. Along with a number of other NY players like Ream, Lindpere, Tainio, Bouna, Henry. Hey, I guess all of ’em 🙂
Apparently you haven’t been watching. Admittedly, he took a cheap shot. There’s no way to defend that. But he played very well. He was active and dangerous, and he combined well up front.
And if you’re a fan of MLS, you know that no goal is a gift. This is not a league where strikers routinely put away their chances.
What shweazy said is completely right. Your shtick makes 0 (ZERO) sense. It’s so wrong on so many levels:
Ream and Agudelo are learning from the best.
American players on other teams are learning how to play against better competition.
The level of play in the league is rising thanks to Backe, making the league better to watch, and possibly catching the attention of more potential future American soccer players.
The rising quality of the league makes it more likely that European teams will be looking to MLS in transfer season, giving Americans increased access to Europe.
These effects might be marginal, but the logic is undeniable.
So basically, your argument is completely wrong. You couldn’t possibly have less insight. Try to think things through next time before you post.
Reams got sommen to say about that dude, so does Mwanga .
Congrats on A win, show us your trophy cabinet.
You mean the rookie of the year last season who had six goals at 17? Yeah, pshhh, way overrated.
Idiot.
+1. Solli was a terror on that side the whole game. RB played a good game with better than average success at scoring. Juan’s goal was top quality; looks like sitting did him some good.
Same reason Ballouchy has been invisible. Red Bulls attacks through the wing. Very little through the middle.
you and everyone else
Special goal frpm a special kid. Touch of genius from the youngster.
yeah, i thought olsen had some questionable tactics tonight. should have sacrificed a defender for boskovic instead of dax. charlie should have stayed on. and while i think najar would have been nice to see, i didnt mind seeing santino.
Obviously Henry gave Juan some of his old highlight tapes : )
I’ve been saying this since day one, this kid is for real.
MOTM: Solli
And is it just me or was DeRosario just invisible?
AGUDELO….WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT???? TAKING TIPS FROM HENRY???? WOW…WHAT A GOAL!!!!!
Boy you look smart now! (And I happen to agree with you completely.)
