  1. We spent 5 years going to almost every game when we lived there. It’s not a luxury stadium, but it’s very nice. The thing that would make the biggest difference is some sort of cover over the west stands (the side the camera is normally on, looking east).

First, it would keep the bulk of the fans out of the rain, but it would also act as a good sun-shade for the folks in the east stands, who are looking directly into the sun for any kickoff after 3pm, and especially at the height of summer w/ a 7pm kickoff, where they’re staring straight into the sunset.

  2. I wish they would have shown the goalkeeper’s view replay on George John’s penalty foul. I thought it was John that knocked the ball away and then the two players hips collided…but I guess Ekpo made that final touch?

  3. DC fan here…I’ve been and it is a nice stadium for the cost and simplicity of it. I think it is good for a while longer. The pitch is nice and the stadium has some good features but when comparing to RBA, Rio Tinto, PPL, etc… it is not that great. However it is a better atmosphere when Columbus draws then older venues like Gillete and RFK.

  4. I’ve never been, but those in the know have been saying it’s due for an upgrade or to be replaced…which seems crazy after only 12 or 13 years.

  5. same argument you have been / going to hear a lot of for baseball these first few weeks. I personally think it’s crazy to have outdoor games in either sport until mid-April at the earliest. Baseball for the level of play (and a bit for attendance), and MLS mostly for attendance purposes. Just not good stuff.

  6. While it’s nice that The Crew get a couple of home games back-to-back, you gotta think there’s better places to keep league attendance up in the early season than 40-degrees-and-windy…
