Red Bulls vs. Sporting Kansas City: Match Night Commentary

The New York Red Bulls take on Sporting Kansas City today and will look to keep their recent offensive hot streak going against a KC defense that has been allowing goals in bunches (7:30pm, MSG).

Thierry Henry will look to build on his two-goal game last, while Luke Rodgers earns another start. The Red Bulls will put an impressive defensive record (two goals in six matches) on the line against a KC attack that has had much more success than its defense.

SBI will be providing live commentary on tonight's match so please feel free to follow along here. As always, you are welcome to share your own thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

  1. Yes:
    1) To watch Thierry Henry play.
    2) To watch the best-passing CB the US has produced in a long time (possibly ever).
    3) To see the best facility in MLS.
    4) Because the Red Bulls are actually a pretty good team with lots of room to improve.

I can think of more, but that’s a start.

  2. Even though I’m a dyed in the wool RSL fan, I like watching the Red Bulls play. They’re good now, and have more room to improve than either RSL or LA as the season progresses. KC is playing well, even though they’re having a bit of trouble in the final third. This game is so much better to watch than last night. DC’s ability to pass was downright abysmal, especially considering the players on that team.

  3. With the exception of Rafa’s pk, good stuff in that first half. It’s fun to watch the Ream-Bunbury battle, though I hope Ream comes out the better tonight. Dane is what he is, so I don’t mean this to be a complaint, but if he were a better passer, the Red Bulls would just shred teams.
