  1. Well, I always like the whole GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL thing except unfortunately, it was the Rapids. Not sure why I’m watching as DCU always gets destroyed.

  2. Its hilarious how the only words that I understand from the spanish play-by-play guy is “Kimura-san!” “Big Red” and “Ginger Ninja McCarty” haha

This is way more entertaining than listening to John Harkes or Shep Messing

  3. Goff reported that Saturday it was sunny and 80’s in Denver and now at gametime it’s 30’s, windy and snow–what a change! I know both teams have to play in the same conditions but you’d figure that Colorado has got a huge edge for the environmental stuff….being acclimated to altitude, probably being a much better direct soccer team (in weather that is going to encourage direct soccer) and probably better prepared for weather like this.

  4. Regarding the weather, I just finished playing a game at Dicks. It was hailing/snowing and just downright cold. I’m thinking about wearing all my snowboard stuff to the game tonight and would advise others to consider something similar. If you see someone in snowboard boots, give me a shout!

  5. It’s a bit of a FIFA thing, they don’t like teams from different continental zones competing in continental competitions outside of their region/zone.

For the record Mexico could easily field about 7 or 6 of their potential starters/stars even with the U-23 team and they are letting them take 5 senior players, that is pretty much an A- minus team at best for Mexico.

All the guys from the 2005 U-17 WC champion team. Vela, Gio Dos Santos, Hector Moreno, Efrain Juarez are all in that u-23 category and so is Chicharito and if they were able to convience him, Jonathan Dos Santos could go too. He is Gio’s younger brother who plays for Barcelona’s reserve or Barcelona B they are 4th in Spain’s 2nd division. just played 5 minutes yesterday.

They can take a goalie, Salcido, Marquez, Guardado and a random X player for the 5 senior player. They can easily do this but doubt they will, they don’t want to drain their players. They’ll concentrate on Gold Cup. Wish they didn’t would love to see them take a full squad since they can?

  6. So I tuned into a little bit of Frankfurt v Wolfsburg and I noticed that Ricardo Clark was playing really high up the pitch especially since Frankfurt barely had any possession…I immediately became confused. I had something else to do so I couldn’t watch all of the match. Afterwards, I was looking at the heat map and average positioning and it really looked like he was playing as a striker. Really odd.

  7. DCU vs. Colorado is shaping up to be a very ugly result for DCU.

    1. Snow coming in (possible 2-4 inches by the end of the game) combined with altitude…definitely an edge for the Rapids.

    2. DCU will be missing 5 starters plus Charlie Davies has a groin pull and didn’t make the trip.

  8. Well CONCACAF is making Mexico take their u23 team and I would imagine Chicharito won’t be included. And from what I understand CONMEBOL isn’t thrilled. If the US was invited they would have to do the same. I suspect that they’ll look for a team from a zone that won’t have the same stipulation if they look for a replacement. I wouldn’t be suprised if they just have a three team group.

  9. It’s a great touch by Fulham to honor his career and commitment there. They officially renamed it after the end of the 2009 season, a full year after McBride left.

  10. Frankie Simek and Carlisle United won the Johnson’s Paint Trophy today with a 1-0 win over Brentford.

Sure it’s a minor trophy but silverware nonetheless. Congrats Frankie.

  11. Blackpool supporters singing for a solid ten minutes toward the end of the game despite being down 3 goals. Who isn’t pulling for this team to stay up in the Premier League?

  12. Japan is going to pull out of the Copa America. I wonder if that means they’ll have to invite someone else. Maybe the US can get invited again due to circumstance.

  13. US U-20s won their group in the CONCACAF championship yesterday evening. Play Guatemala on Wednesday for the quarterfinal and a spot in Colombia.

They were much the better side against Panama, as we might hope.
