FC Dallas vs. Los Angeles Galaxy: Your Running Commentary

 FC Dallas LogoLA_Primary_COL

The Los Angeles Galaxy head into Sunday on a major roll, with Landon Donovan back in form and the club rebounding well from the loss of defender Leonardo, but a road trip to Frisco, Texas awaits against a dangerous FC Dallas side (7pm, Galavision).

Dallas begins life without David Ferreira, who is out with a broken ankle. FC Dallas will be leaning heavily on Fabian Castillo and Eric Avila to help make up for the creativity lost by Ferreira's injury.

The Galaxy's defense will look to shut down the home team and increase its lead atop the Western Conference after previously-unbeaten Real Salt Lake lost on Saturday.

  1. Lame stoppage with less than 8 minutes to go…This isn’t baseball. Very amateurish move. The rhythm of the match was lost. Then Arena subs out Beckham and Angel for Birchell and Kirovski…Bloody Brilliant!

  2. I was there. It was raining on and off all night. At around the 60th minute or so, the PA announcer said that they were expecting heavy rains in 20 minutes. The score was tied 1-1, with that fantastic Castillo goal, and the go-for-broke-wrap-your-body-around-the-post goal from LD. So I guess people figured that they had seen 2 goals already and the game was only going to get sloppier. Players were falling on the run, especially those with a “high center of gravity” (Shea). When the clouds opened up, and the game was paused, thats when everyone left. It was sold out, people watched in the rain. Just not in the monsoon. Great result for FCD. Welcome to Dallas Mr. Castillo.

  3. I saw some of the highlights on MLSsoccer and at first I thought there was a fan match ban because the stadium looked completely empty. But then I realized it was raining and people don’t usually like to watch soccer in the rain.

  4. cannibal ferox too. one of the greatest cannibal films ever made. As for Pelada, can that be rented now? I doubt it. By the way, the Galaxy WERE ROBBED!!!!
They totally had the momentum before the ref stopped play. Was that Toledo? And yes, they should’ve paid Buddle DP-type dough given that he had scoring proweress with Columbus before LA.

  5. Since I don’t have Twitter this is the only way I can say thank you to you Ives for posting on twitter (which thankfully is on the side tab of your web site) the great news about Osama Bin Ladin. If not then I would not have heard the great news since I don’t watch any major news networks.

  6. according to FC Dallas’s twitter, teams are back on the field. 10 minutes to warm up and then they’ll play the rest of the game.

  7. I think the rules state that in this case each team picks one player and they finish the game on FIFA11.

  8. so what happens? do they just say it was a 1-1 game, or do they replay it, or will they play the last 7 minutes at some point?

  9. I have an english feed (lucky me). Teams to the lockerooms to wait out the storm. Can you say 30 minutes of stoppage time.

  10. From what I understand some of the lights have gone out at the venue. In addition, the storm is gathering strength (lightning) and the referee decided it was to dangerous to keep playing.

  11. What a sloppy game. It looks like its raining hard. Both teams are having trouble maintaining possession.

  12. What formation did Schellas put out? Is Castillo alone up top and Avi filling into Ferriera’s role, or did he put out a 4-4-2?

  13. LA has the world’s greatest passer of this generation on the field and they have probably the worst field spacing of any MLS team.

  14. Why does dallas play such a defensive formation? They have attacking talent but its hard to score when you’re not playing any true strikers.
