The Chicago Fire reserves entered Tuesday's match against Sporting Kansas City having scored five goals in two games, but that offensive output was tamed as SKC held the hosts to a 1-1 draw.

With former Fire defender Bakary Soumare in attendance, Chicago jumped out to an early lead courtesy of a goal from new signing Cristian Nazarit. Sporting Kansas City responded when Chance Myers pounced on a rebound from close range following a shot from Luke Sassano.

The tie gave Chicago a 2-0-1 record, while Sporting Kansas City now stands at 1-1-1.

United blanks Union to remain perfect

Brandon Barklage scored his first goal as D.C. United defeated the Phildelphia Union, 1-0, to keep its perfect record (3-0-0) in tact on Monday.

Barklage scored on a volley off a corner kick from Stephen King, and the Union (1-1-0) never found its equalizer despite having its chances. Rookie Ryan Richter had one of those chances, but his header off of service from Roger Torres was easily saved.

Union rookie goalkeeper Zac MacMath started and went the distance.

Sounders stay undefeated with 3-2 win over Timbers

The Seattle Sounders improved to 3-0-0 with a 3-2 win over their Pacific northwest rivals, the Portland Timbers, on Sunday.

Five different players found the back of the net, with Lamar Neagle scoring the opener for Seattle just a minute before halftime. Neagle went from scorer to provider, assisting on Pat Noonan's goal before Portland cut the 2-0 deficit off a finish from David Horst. 

Seattle scored its third off a strike from rookie Michael Tetteh, but Portland made the game interesting with a late stoppage-time goal from Bim Ogunyemi.

Portland dropped to 1-1-0 with the loss.

Chabala strike gives Houston road victory

Real Salt Lake lost its second consecutive match, losing 1-0 at home to the Houston Dynamo on Saturday.

Mike Chabala improved Houston to 2-1-0 and dropped Real Salt Lake to 1-3-0 with a goal in the 14th minute. Chabala received a pass from Jason Garey before chipping Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Kyle Reynish. Houston was able to maintain a cleansheet thanks in part to goalkeeper Tyler Deric, who made five saves.

Three RSL-Arizona Academy players participated in the match for the hosts, with David Flores and Maikon Orellana starting and Ricardo Velazco coming off the bench.
