Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Toronto FC: Your Running Commentary

Major League Soccer's two Canadian teams, the Vancouver Whitecaps and Toronto FC, go head-to-head in the first leg of the Canadian championship at Empire Field in their first meeting since the opening game of the MLS season (10 p.m., Rogers Sportsnet in Canada; Sportsnet stream).

Toronto FC has won the last two Canadian championships but has never won in Vancouver in three previous tournament meetings. The Reds also fell at Empire Field on March 19, 4-2, when Eric Hassli's brace was the difference.

The Whitecaps will look to protect home field and gain an edge to secure the elusive Voyageurs Cup. The winner of the title will be entered into the CONCACAF Champions League preliminary round, where it will face Nicaragua's entry into the tournament in July.

  2. And don’t stop until you find two teams that don’t have a chance of making it to the group stages of the concacaf champions league (half-joking).

  3. Wow that the worst officiating mistake I’ve seen all year.

That’s the most clear cut penalty you could ever get as an official. No ball, complete contact, and well inside the box on a breakaway.

  4. That stream has been open all night. I wonder if the CSF had the express written consent of Major League Baseball to stream the Blue Jays game.
