The MLS representation is kind of a bummer, but it’s shaping up to be a fun summer. The branding potential for our league is even more impressive.

The unfortunate truth is that MLS is still in the stage where these are necessary. From a revenue, branding, and marketing standpoint they are a necessary evil.

In 10-15 years when we’re on the same calendar these won’t seem like such an inconvenience.

hey don’t complain that top clubs around the world are playing in the USA all summer! its all meaning less friendlies but its still damn good events to get more people into the game.

i hope in the future its more MLS team vs. International team to better gauge our level vs. them.. i still think the MLS vs. ___ League challenge would be great; each MLS team plays 1-2 games vs. 1-2 teams from the other league. Teams with the best record/attendance would get matched up with the better teams..

Hey Ives how do the MLS teams get into this tournament? Curious to see New England and Vancouver in their as opposed to teams higher up in the standings.

  • Jim in Atlanta

Does that mean Alex Zahavi will be playing or is he still on loan in Israel?

Because you already have the Maple leafs to embarrass your city …Enjoy

New England Revolution are a joke ….any “tournament” with them in it is NOT a tournament …

you’re presuming some MLS teams will be brand names in 10 years on the international market. As much as we hate the mexican national team, our play with them is the one that is really bringing in the biggest dough. Thats why the gold cup isnt played elsewhere (cause our amigos to the south arent gonna fork over 90bucks to see El Tri). Its naive to think that we will usurp these european brand names with mls teams or with concacaf teams. Of course, if we start playing the s. americans things could change in the way you think…with our play w/s. americans usurping europe teams.

Onyewu to Sprouting? thats great. Gooch seems to latch onto these WFC teams. Weird, huh.
