Sporting Kansas City is on one of the hottest runs in MLS at the moment, but will need to continue its run without one of the team's key figures.

Midfielder Davy Arnaud is set to miss up to six weeks after undergoing sports hernia surgery, Sporting KC announced on Wednesday.

Arnaud's injury comes just a week after Sporting KC lost midfielder Ryan Smith for the rest of the season after he returned to England for personal reasons.

Sporting KC is riding a seven-match unbeaten streak as it rolls into a portion of its schedule loaded with home games in the team's new Livestrong Sporting Park.

Here are some other MLS notes to get your Thursday going:

Sounders loan Tetteh to Orlando City

Generation adidas defender Michael Tetteh has struggled to find playing time with the Seattle Sounders, but now he will get his chance for regular playing time after being loaned out to USL-Pro club Orlando City.

A second-round pick in the 2011 MLS Draft, Tetteh has yet to make his MLS debut, though he has scored two goals with the Seattle reserve team.

"With him, as all young players, it's a matter of consistency and also sometimes responsibility defensively, but his potential is definitely there," Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid told the Seattle Times.

"He's a very good attacking left-back and he's a good defending wide-left midfielder. For him, he's got offensive skills and some unpredictability in his play attacking-wise that brings some good things to the field."

FC Dallas signs Ihemelu to extension

Ugo Ihemelu has been one of the defensive pillars for FC Dallas' recent success and the club has rewarded him with a contract extension through the 2015 season.

Ihemelu has started 15 games for FC Dallas, which is currently tied for second place in the Western Conference. The 28-year-old centerback is enjoying another strong season, partnering with George John in one of the tougher centerback tandems in MLS.

Chicago Fire waives Davis Paul

The Chicago Fire waived rookie midfielder Davis Paul on Wednesday. The former Cal-Berkeley standout made just one appearance with the Fire after being selected with the 51st overall pick in the 2011 MLS Draft.

D.C. United waives Junior Carreiro

Just a week after agreeing to a deal to let midfielder Fred Carreiro return to the Australian A-League, D.C. United has parted ways with his brother, midfielder Junior Carreiro.

The younger Carreiro made three appearances with D.C. United last season but hadn't featured this season after having an ankle injury hamper him from the start the season.
