  1. Agree on the fact that the yellows were soft and the tackle on Dunn was atrocious. It’ll be a good learning experience for Pelosi though.

    Second half was ugly.

  2. I’ve had this fight with MLS Live several times. The worst is I travel a lot for work so as you can imagine, not many hotels have FSC or the Spanish channels. Then suddenly they make my Sounders game the game of the week as an add on and my MLS Live $$ doesn’t do Sh&t for me.

Between Espn pre-empting “national games” for CWS baseball, and the lack of access to Telefutura and FSC, MLS is treading water in terms of TV exposure.

  3. Wow, what a pathetic performance by SJ all the way around. Lenhart cheats and gets Saunders ejected, and then SJ does squat with a 1 man advantage and Mike Magee in goal.

I hate LA but SJ were the bad guys today, and they sucked.

  4. Pelosi sent off in the 69th with another SOFT yellow. Someone just tried to break Dunn’s leg and it was only a yellow. Pelosi got 2 soft yellows and is off. Ridiculous.

  5. Right, but the rule is that you cannot interfere with the goalkeeper distributing/releasing the ball. Saunders was in posession of the ball (regardless of how many hands he was using) and was moving to the top of the box to distribute it. Lenhart heading it out of his posession should have been the end of the play.

  6. U-17s playing well. Making lots of chances. Keeping the ball well, possession strongly favors the States. Komara has had a number of good chances, messed them both up. Pelosi got a very soft yellow.

If we keep getting chances as we have then we should win this game.

  7. Saunders didn’t get Lenhart with his elbow, it was his forearm as he was trying to fend him off. Which is perfectly legal. Lenhart on the other hand knew what he was doing was illegal and it was flagrantly intentional. Plus he dived after the knock big time.

The injury to Ricketts looked like a deliberate header to the arm to me too. Bush league play by SJ and bush league refereeing as well.

  8. Looked like he was in possession of the ball. But there is a reason most goalies hold the ball with both hands in situations like that. Too many classic funniest soccer moments clips where forwards get hold of the ball when the goalie rests the ball in the palm of his hand.

  9. WOW quite the goalkeeping dilema for LA now; Ricketts went off injured, Saunders came on– and now Saunders had the ball, :enhart prevented him from distributing it, heading it out of his arms (which is against the rules)–Saunders recovered the loose ball and swung an elbow into Lenhart’s face, red card.

    Magee is going into goal.

  10. DCU-Houston should have a few more goals in it. Some absolutely spectacular saves from the keepers and a goal-line clearance from Sarkodie are keeping it at 1-1. Wish MLS Live broadcast games that are on Telefutura so I didn’t have to watch it on a grainy Justin.tv stream.

I have a fairly comprehensive DirecTV package, and I still don’t get Telefutura. How the hell do they expect people to be able to watch games on that channel? That’s overlooking the fact that they only put the games on a Spanish-speaking channel; what about the English rights to the game?

I have no problem with MLS reaching out to its Spanish-speaking audience, and I wouldn’t even have a problem watching the game in Spanish even though I don’t know an hombre from an hermano, but I don’t get the channel!! Do they expect me to pay for the DirecTV Spanish culture package just so I can watch a few games a year on Telefutura? Absolutely not!

You’re only hurting yourself, MLS- show the local networks’ coverage on MLS Live so your fans who don’t get every single channel in the world (and who also paid $40 for MLS Live, mind you) can watch the damn games!

  11. Also kind of a slap in the face to Stuart Pearce that he couldn’t call in Carroll or Wilshere when Spain is captained by Javi Martinez, who was on the Spain team that won the World Cup..

  12. Dang – the firepower sitting on the bench for Spain U21 is impressive as the starting squad. Bojan Krkic, Diego Capel, Dani Parejo.

Swiss playing positive soccer and their back 4 is holding up well so far, generally moving the ball on the ground after breaking up Spain attacking forays.
