  1. Did anyone watch the Brazil v Cote D’Ivoire u17 match? That Coulibaly kid is amazing. Three great goals (including a bicycle kick)- puts him at 8 for the tournament already.

  2. Nice job eliminating any credibility you have on Henry’s play by admitting that you don’t watch NY play. He’s been mostly superb. Half of our roster is getting paid under 100k or so…not sure any of them are arrogant pricks.

It’s entertaining watching This Guy work himself up into a lather whenever the Red Bulls come up in conversation. By the way, learn another chant besides Fire….Fire…Fire.

  3. I think they’ve played attractive soccer since Klopas took over. The finishing is the problem. The soon to be announced DP should seal that problem up though.

  4. I said “Goal” and “why” not referring to anything other than this match. I don’t watch the Red Bulls they are a group of arrogant pricks, IMO. I’m a Fire supporter.

  5. Goal!!!!! Pappa!
Why? because there is a lack of keepers with quality in that Red Bull roster. Why else? Henry has been jogging around like he doesn’t care as long as he gets paid.

    Da-le, da-le, dale Chi-ca-go!

  6. Maybe if the 12 Red Ball supporters in the crowd would chant louder they could drown them out. No?

  7. It was a rather interesting game. Canada had more possession in the first half (I think around 55%), but didn’t have as many chances (quality or otherwise) and exited down 2-0.

But then in the 2nd, Canada was much worse (or Germany much stronger), Germany still had more chances, but Canada got the only goal of the half.

It is a bit of an overstatement to say that Germany dominated Canada in the first, but not too much. Certainly Canada showed they could play with the best in the world.

  8. Popp has to be the scariest player on the bench in the world cup. Although Sinclair had a good look in the first half, I believe the Germans were dominent. The Canadians were constantly on their back feet.

  9. Chicago fans have been singing the same god damn song for 7 minutes. Enough. That song stopped being cool in 2006 (the same year they discovered it).

  10. I’m going to add that this looks like it will be well-attended World Cup – 73,000+ in the sold out opening match and some great football. The France/Nigeria game crowd looked good, too, but was not as exciting to watch.

Anyone who says this is a non-event in Germany doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Sure, there’s not as much excitement or publicity as the men’s Cup, but it’s doing well in it’s own right. Great to see.

  11. Also, I don’t know what’s up with Bajramaj, she has been off lately. A far cry from the player who was nominated for FIFA Player of the Year last year.

  12. Canada gave them some trouble in the first half – I would argue they had slightly better possession even – but then the Germans turned it on the second. They are lucky that Popp didn’t slip one in.

  13. After being totally dominated for 80 minutes, Sinclair scores for Canada from a set piece and are only behind by 1 goal. Germany will rue the big misses they have had. American’s should be very nervous seeing the German team at work. They are like a machine.
