The Seattle Sounders are putting together a string of solid results in more than just the MLS regular season.

The Sounders' reserve team remained undefeated after a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy reserves on Tuesday.

Lamar Neagle was largely responsible for improving Seattle to 7-0-0, as he assisted on Nate Jaqua's opener before scoring off a penalty kick at the 30-minute mark. The Galaxy, now 1-5-0, pulled one back in the second half through Adam Cristman.

The win kept Seattle atop the West Division while the Galaxy remain in fifth place.

Here are more recent results from the MLS Reserve League:

CHICAGO ROUTS FC DALLAS

In a battle of the top two teams in the Central/Mountain Division, the Chicago Fire came out victorious against FC Dallas, winning 5-0 on Tuesday. Colombian forward Cristian Nazarit netted a hat trick while his strike partner, Orr Barouch, grabbed a brace in support of Jon Conway and a defense captained by Bratislav Ristic.

Nazarit's three-goal performance gives him four on the season, making him the current goal-scoring leader in the MLS Reserve League.

With the win, Chicago moved into in first place with 10 points on a 3-0-1 record. FC Dallas' first loss dropped the club to 3-1-0, tying it with the Houston Dynamo for second with nine points.

NGWENYA LEADS D.C. OVER UNION

D.C. United remained unbeaten and in first place of the East Division, disposing of the Philadelphia Union, 4-1, on Sunday.

Joseph Ngwenya tallied twice, and Stephen King and Kurt Morsink scored one apiece for D.C. United (4-0-1). Philadelphia (1-2-1) had its lone tally come from U-17 forward Darius Madison after Roger Torres' through ball played him in on goal.

Steve Cronin started and went the distance in goal for D.C. United while Amobi Okugo had a 90-minute outing for the Union.

  1. I haven’t really been following them (the reserves)… but yeah it’s good to know in the future some other teams might have a chance against LA :D)

  2. Nazarit was issued a two-game suspension after the Revs game two weeks ago, so the Fire couldn’t play him against either Real Salt Lake or RBNY. Oduro seems to be the hot player now.

Nazarit will have his day, esp if he scores with the reserves – but Barouch’s triple in the preseason put him on the radar and on his way to taking Nazarit’s spot while he was suspended. This result makes the choice even tougher for Klopas.

  3. With the cap money LA has invested in its starting 11, it would really stunning if their reserve team were winning a lot, too. What does surprise me, based on his showing so far, is that the Fire aren’t giving Nazarit more time. Also, I love watching Brettschneider — almost every time he plays he makes some subtle, creative touch that just screams “player”.

One note from the DCU game — yet another concussion for a United player, as star-crossed Brandon Barklage got struck in the head by a kicked ball, which one of his teammates carelessly and foolishly kicked after the ball went out of touch. Poor guy just can’t catch a break.

  4. I’m just thrilled about the existence of the Reserve League this season and believe that it is such a critical aspect of the continued growth of the league. Thanks for the updates.
