Women’s World Cup Final: Pre-Game Tailgate

The U.S. Women's National Team will look to win the third World Cup in the team's history today with a win against Japan in the 2011 World Cup Final in Frankfurt, Germany (2:45pm, ESPN).

The U.S. women reached the final with a pair of thrilling victories against Brazil and France, and now face an inspired Japan side that reached the final by knocking off defending champion Germany before blowing out Sweden in the semifinals.

  1. Ya I don’t know about that move back to Buehler either, but hopefully she’ll keep possesion instead of just playing long balls.

  2. W/ Rapinoe and Cheney on the pitch the US has tactical flexibility as the game goes forward. Cheney can drop into the midfield or out wide. Rapinoe can also help out with possession in the center of the field, if need be. Unfortunate for A-Rod

  3. I might have actually subbed Morgan for ARod and Rapino on the wing with Cheney in the middle for either Lloyd or Boxx but glad ARod is sitting.

  4. They pulled ARod from the lineup for Rapino which makes sense although could also have switched up the midfield of Boxx and Lloyd which hasn’t been that great…

  5. Good luck to both sides–matches with storylines like are so great for the sport!

    If Japan keeps their current form and USA keeps their finishing efficiency this will be an epic match. Too bad I’m working through the match and will haver to wait until the replay.
