Fantasy MLS: Week 24

DC United continued their strong form this week as they trounced Vancouver at home. DC has continued to turn thing around since their acquisition of Dwayne DeRosario and are now likely to make the playoffs if they continue their strong form.

Meanwhile, the New York Red Bulls, arguably the most talented team in MLS at the beginning of the season, continue to struggle. They will need to turn things around quickly to be in the playoff race later in the season.

This will be a big week to rack up points with six different teams playing multiple matches. D.C. United is one of those teams, and given their form, you're going to want all your D.C. players in the lineup.

Here are a few more items to consider before setting your fantasy lineup this week:

MULTIPLE GAMES

New England, Houston, Sporting Kansas City, Portland, Chicago, and DC all play twice this week. The Revs, Sporting KC, and the Fire have two home games this week, making their players strong plays.

MFLS WEEK 24 BEST XI

GK – Jimmy Nielsen, SKC – With two games home games this week, Nielsen is likely to get at least one shutout.

D – Geoff Cameron, HOU – Midfielder listed as a defender in MFLS, Cameron is very influential in the Houston offense and has two games this week.

D – Matt Besler, SKC – Sporting Kansas City has revamped their game since they started playing at Livestrong Park. Besler has one goal and two assist on the season and will have a chance to add to those totals with two games this week.

D – Omar Gonzalez, LA – Los Angeles’ defense has been rock solid this year and Gonzalez is always a threat on set pieces. Look for him to pick up solid fantasy points with a home game vs. San Jose.

M – Brad Davis, HOU – Davis has a league leading eleven assists on the season. Look for him to add to those totals this week with two games.

M – Dwayne De Rosario, DCU – De Rosario continued his strong form last week with two assist vs. Vancouver. He has two games this week and I would not bet against him getting on the score sheet.

M – Marco Pappa, CHI – Chicago season has been very disappointing, but Pappa continues to shine as a very influential player. He continues to be Chicago’s best fantasy option and with two games this week, is a very good pickup.

M – Landon Donovan, LA – When Donovan is in form, there isn’t anyone in MLS that can stop him. He has been hit or miss as of late, but I think Donovan is in for big game vs San Jose this week and should be on your fantasy team.

F – Thierry Henry, NY – New York continued to disappoint last week with a draw against Chicago, but Henry continues to put up MVP-like numbers. This week, New York is playing a New England side that has allowed six goals in the past two games and Henry should continue to shine.

F – Teal Bunbury, SKC – Bunbury has score two goals in the past three games and has two home games this week to continue his strong form.

F – Dominic Oduro, CHI – Oduro’s speed has created many chances for him this season. With two home games this week, look for him to notch at least one goal.
