Must-See Ad: FIFA12

This FIFA12 ad was made for European viewers, seeing as how the release date mentioned is Sept. 30 (the UK's release date of the game) and not Sept. 27 (North America's release date). But it is still one of the first TV ads released by EA Sports for its highly-anticipated video game, and with the demo scheduled to come out on Sept. 13, this is a must-see for any soccer gamer.

Here's the ad:

What do you think of the ad? Planning on getting FIFA12? Would you be interested in an SBI FIFA12 League?

  1. Not a gamer here, but that was a really dumb ad. I agree about the uncomfortable image, being a former Brit, and what was the deal with the sparkles coming off Rooney’s fingers? Shouldn’t they be coming off his foot?

  2. Sorry, but Colin Cowherd is an idiot. The number of times I’ve heard that guy contradict himself. This morning he may be talking about how soccer is taking over, but tomorrow morning he’ll be talking about how “nobody watches that terrible sport.”

The greater point is – while espn has begrudgingly started airing soccer, and network will be picking up on it starting next year, the sad fact remains that almost all sports radio guys are completely clueless about soccer and imagine that the mere mention of the sport is the death knell for their drive-time “NBA and NFL only” programs.

  3. I hate playing online because everyone plays on auto. If we could force people to play manual I would enjoy it more. Playing on manual actually takes skill as opposed to auto.

  4. Yeah, demographic changes and just my general sense of what sports young people are into these days would lead me to believe that baseball is in serious decline and that in 10 or 15 years the top 3 will be 1)Football 2)Basketball 3)Soccer

  5. Colin Cowherd said today on his radio show that he heard from ESPN’s brass that the demographics show Soccer becoming the 4th most popular sport ahead of Baseball in 10 years. 44% hispanic in the USA. and he adds that the internet sites like bigsoccer or sbi and Fifa11 are whats making it happen. Fifa 11 is the fastest selling game of all time in the USA. FIFA 12 will be bigger

  6. I would love to get in a league (XBOX). I play manager mode mostly because every time I look for an online match everybody picks Barcelona, seriously about 19 out of 20 attempts the opponent picks them…very lame.

  7. The image of a motionless fan being stretchered off a football pitch should be an uncomfortable image to anyone who followed English soccer in the 1980s. So I think it was an odd idea for a video game commercial.

  8. I like how it showed absolutely no gameplay features. The best commercial they could do for this game would be to just show people playing it.
