In an August that saw several MLS players enjoy outstanding months, no player had has strong a showing as Mauro Rosales.
The Seattle Sounders playmaker was the driving force behind a stellar month for the Sounders, which finished an incredible 7-0-1 in all competitions in August.
Rosales was a key figure behind several of the wins. He scored a 90th-minute equalizer before assisting on a stoppage-time game-winner against Sporting KC, scored the game-winner in a road win against FC Dallas, and capped the month with a masterful one goal, two-assist performance in Seattle's 6-2 mauling of Columbus.
That was just in MLS play. Rosales also played a part Seattle's runs in the U.S. Open Cup and their outstanding start to CONCACAF Champions League play, which included assisting on the Champions League play-off series winner against San Francisco.
Rosales beat out David Beckham, Dwayne DeRosario and Dominic Oduro for the August honors.
What did you think of Rosales' performances in August? What player would have gotten your vote for MLS Player of the Month in August?

You mean after he gets mugged? Time and time again?
Seattle’s defense is not particularly solid right now. We are pretty good up the middle but any combination of Riley, Scott, Wahl, or Gonzalez are vulnerable on the wings.
If JKH is in the line-up, our d is solid. With him out, we can be flaky.
Classy??? Have you seen him rolling all over the pitch?
Are you being sarcastic ?
They are at 1 goal per game in MLS
They shut down Dallas to 1 goal in three games this year.
They shutdown Monterrey, in Monterrey.
Well deserved, hopefully MLS will pay what it takes to keep him around.
If they only had a legit defense, they could be a world-class team. They showed it in the 1st half vs Man U
I can’t imagine him not occupying a DP spot on the roster next year. You’re right, it does say a lot about him. He certainly plays like he’s trying to prove something. I don’t think he’s going to slack when he gets the truck full of cash backed up to him either, he just seems to like to kick a$$ and play hard.
You’re not kidding. I looked into it and found the interview where he stated this after I heard about this guy’s resume…. It’s shocking that he was willing to do this at all. Says a lot about him I think.
I think it’s safe to say this year has “worked out”.
+1 for sure… for those that don’t know, he’s making a whopping $42k this year. I think it’s safe to say he’s probably going to se a favorable raise next year.
After River Plate got relegated, he had worked out a move to a Mexican side, which fell through at literally the last minute.
Someone suggested Seattle to him, and they promised that if the year at 42k worked out, they’d take care of him the next year.
Seattle better show Rosales The Kwan. Show him the money. Show him the money. Rosales says, “Help me, help you Seattle”.
For real, they better pay that man more than his 42K a year. How the heck did they get him for that anyway? He is worth ten times that. Man his agent must suck.
Give that man a hefty raise Seattle!
he’s a heck of a player who had a great month and year so far. Fantastic addition to the league. Congrats to Rosales
Coming from a Timbers fan, I would have to agree with SBI’s choice. Rosales had a great month and has helped the Sounders in incredible ways.
El Maestro deserves the award, he is one of the most skilled and classy players in the league. He may not be a big name, but watch him play and you’ll see a midfielder who orchestrates play as well as anyone. He is the soul of the current Sounders squad, and wills them to victories.
definitely agree, i hope he gets one heck of a pay raise. Probably the most valuable player on the team.

Rosales has been so entertaining to watch. He always seems to make the right decision with the ball.
I think this is a better recipient than the official MLS winner (no disrespect to DeRo)
Rosales had better numbers, more game-winning goals, and did more for the team in more competitions. DeRo scored 3 of his 4 August goals in one game. Rosales was scoring or assisting in every game.
Well-deserved. Easily MLS Newcomer of the year. Possibly MVP as well
Where does he stack up in the list for season MVP?
+ 1
Couldn’t agree more!
