Union right back Sheanon Williams will miss Friday’s game against Sporting Kansas City after picking up a concussion. The injury to Williams, who had previously missed just one match this season, was reported by Philly.com and is listed on the official injury report, but the club has yet to make an official statement.

Stefani Miglioranzi and Michael Farfan are options to replace Williams at right back when the Union face Sporting Kansas City on Friday.

Another player who will miss out due to concussion is third choice goalkeeper Thorne Holder. Holder, recently re-signed after being released earlier this season, took a ball to the head in a reserve match against the Columbus Crew.

Union To Make Extreme Hardship Additon

With starting goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon out injured in addition to Holder, the Union are eligible to make an “extreme hardship” call-up and add another goalkeeper on a short-term basis per league rules. That player could be a member of the MLS reserve keeper pool, but reports indicate the Union will look to Chase Harrison, starting goalkeeper for the Union’s USL-Pro affiliate Harrisburg City Islanders.

Reserves Lose 2-1 To Crew

The Union’s reserve squad fell 2-1 against the visiting Columbus Crew on Sunday. Jack McInerney scored an early opener for the Union, but an Emmanuel Ekpo strike soon after restored parity. Columbus found a winner through Josh Gardner, assisted by Ekpo, in the 75th minute.

Daniel Called Up For T&T

Winger Keon Daniel has been called up for Trinidad and Tobago’s national team ahead of matches with Barbados and Bermuda. Due to visa issues, Daniel has been unable to rejoin the Union squad since his last international appearances, and is set to miss the rest of the season.

  1. Seems likely that he was on and h1-b. And left the country with less than six months before his passport expired. Do that, outside of Canada and Mexico, and you start all over. That, or there is a criminal reason (even a possession conviction, anywhere, can bar you from the US, especially if you didn’t report it and ins found out later. Heck, just losing your passport and attached visa can cause a long delay. A friend of mine, an employee of the US government, lost his passport while visiting his parents in the UK and it took him six weeks and the intervention of a cabinet secretary to return.

  2. Daniels: “..and is set to miss the rest of the season.” This just seems odd. Somebody fluked this big time. One of the better players on the team and paperwork got in the way. Smells fishy.
