Michael Farfan's versatility has come in handy for the Philadelphia Union throughout the season, and the rookie proved his worth again over the weekend with a standout performance and great individual effort that led to a crucial equalizer in a big game and SBI MLS Rookie of the Week honors.

Farfan stepped in at right back and performed admirably for the injured Sheanon Williams. He also came up with the play of the game for the Union against Sporting Kansas City, having the wherewithal to save a Roger Torres cross from going out of play on the endline prior to squaring the ball for Sebastien Le Toux for the goal that salvaged a 1-1 road draw.

Farfan stood out to help him win the honors for the second time this season, besting D.C. United's Ethan White and Portland's Darlington Nagbe.

What did you think of Farfan's performance? How would you rate his rookie season? Which rookie stood out for you this past week?

  1. Michael Farfan has been one of the best players for the Union this year but he is just tossed around at random positions. His skill on the ball is fantastic and he should be a real player in the future.

  2. Jeff, primoone,
Same here. Those two were very fun to watch at good ‘ol Titan Stadium.
Put on moves in matches I couldn’t even do on FIFA.
    Go Titans.

  3. I have also watched Mike play at Fullerton. Both of the Farfan brothers excel wide right and left and will no doubt have a sniff at the national team very soon. They play out of their positions with the union however, make no mistake, they are natural attacking mid-fielders.

  4. Hey Ives, which team do you think had the best draft now that the season is almost done? In my opinion i think im still going with Houston as having gotten the most talent with the draft.

  5. Glad he is finally getting some recognition. I watched him and his brother at CSUF for a few years, and his success comes at no surprise. Hope his career/playing time continues to expand.
