The top-ranked Connecticut Huskies added another impressive win in their perfect start with a thrilling 1-0 double overtime victory against No. 8 Louisville.

Junior captain Stephane Diop pounced on a rebound created by Carlos Alvarez's shot and rocketed a shot home from the left side of the penalty box 1:02 into the second overtime. This is the sixth one-goal game UConn has won in their perfect 10-0-0 start. Louisville, on the other hand, fall to a disappointing 6-3-0 and the Cardinals are winless in two conference games.

Neither team had many chances in the first half but Louisville squandered a chance to win late in the second half. Kenny Walker sent his penalty kick well over the crossbar in the 82nd minute to preserve Andre Blake's eigth shutout of the season.

UNC had their shutout streak snapped at four games.

  1. St Johns needed nearly all of 2 OTs to defeat Princeton; they scored with only 6 seconds left. I guess they like to leave things for late.

Princeton has gotta be the unluckiest team, they have out-shot opponents in nearly every contest while going 1-5-2 (except oddly in the one game they won).

  2. Come on Ives give Maryland it’s due. They deserve to be #1. Yeah, UCONN hasn’t lost yet, but Maryland’s wins have been more impressive and against better competition.

    Make it happen!

  3. Stunning atmosphere at Duke-UNC. Went with a friend and had a great time, standing room only and they brought out the pep band and cheerleaders. Impressed with the talent on the field, and the back heel goal was the real deal. It would be awesome if more college teams brought out their band (and had them play more during the game, come on UNC)

  4. UC Irvine goes to SB and comes away with a 2-0 victory… First loss at home for UCSB in 16 games (not surprising, that is a TOUGH place to play).

And, no love from SBI…? Come on!

    Zot Zot!

  5. UNC v. Duke was quite a game. Really high paced and two nice opportunities created by UNC with two of the nicest back heels I’ve ever seen
