For the second straight week, the top teams in the nation suffered through some shocking upset defeats.

In its penultimate game of the regular season, top-ranked Maryland lost to Clemson, 2-1. The Terps had a man advantage for much of the match, but Clemson was able to exploit the makeshift back line Maryland used, scoring twice in the second half to win the game.

UConn could have made a case for reclaiming the No. 1 spot, but that went out the window after being blanked by Seton Hall. The No. 2 ranked Huskies ended their regular season on a losing note, as Seton Hall maintained its first-half lead to pull off the upset.

Out West, UCLA put a stranglehold on the Pac-10 after beating No. 24 Washington and Oregon State over the weekend, while New Mexico remained the lone unbeaten team in the nation with a narrow victory over San Jose State.
