SBI MLS Rookie of the Week: C.J. Sapong

Sporting Kansas City's C.J. Sapong has seen his playing time diminish some late on in the regular season, due in part to the resurgance of Teal Bunbury as well as his own fatigue after a long rookie season, but that hasn't stopped the Rookie of the Year front-runner from continuing to contribute.

Sapong needed exactly one minute to make an impact for Sporting KC on Saturday, scoring a goal soon after having come on as a substitute in Sporting's 2-0 victory against New York. The goal gave him an MLS rookie-best five on the season (tied with Houston's Will Bruin) and helped him earn SBI MLS Rookie of the Week honors yet again.

Sapong took the honors ahead of a list of candidates that included Chicago's Jalil Anibaba and Philadelphia's Michael Farfan.

What did you think of this week's rookie performances? Who stood out for you? Think anybody can catch C.J. Sapong for Rookie of the Year honors?
