With his contract set to expire at the turn of the year, David Beckham is allegedly in talks with Ligue 1's Paris Saint-Germain, according to the clubs sporting director Leonardo.

The 36-year-old was a staple in the LA Galaxy midfield this year and played a massive part in the team's successful campaign toward a MLS Cup. Beckham's head has been turned over the past five years by European club, however in those cases the moves were only on loan to keep the player's fitness at a peak.

With the end of his contract within touching distance, the Galaxy will need to fend off interest from PSG if it is to hold onto Beckham.

"Yes, we've spoken. These situations take time. We'll see if something suits him and suits us," said Leonardo on the subject.

DEL PIERO LEANING TOWARD MLS 

Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero is prepared to make the jump to MLS at the end of the European season, according to his agent Enzo Bronzetti.

Having just turned 37 years old, the Italian is seeking a new venture, and Bronzetti sees MLS as a viable option, "I think he can go there. American football is said to have been on the rise for years, but now it is."

According to Bronzetti, representatives from Seattle and Chicago have come to Italy to speak about to possibility of Del Piero signing with their respective sides.

Christian Constantin, president of Swiss club Sion, harbors ambitions of luring Del Piero to the Swiss Premier League but said in an interview, "I have not yet talked to him, partly because I read he'd like to go to America."

GERRARD TO MISS MAN CITY CLASH

Despite his side earning a lively win at Chelsea last weekend, Liverpool will, once again, have to cope without the services of Steven Gerrard.

The captain has been stricken down with injury for the better part of 2011, and it doesn't look to be ending this weekend as the current ailment is an infected ankle.  

Gerrard was initially ruled out due to injury in March with a groin problem, and only made his full return to the side against Manchester United in mid-October.

While having Gerrard back in the side would be a boost for the rest of the squad, Lucas Leiva and Charlie Adam have deputized well in Gerrard's absence.

GOAL-LINE TECHNOLOGY NEXT SEASON?

The Football Association general secretary Alex Horne claims that goal-line technology could be employed as early as the 2012-2013 Premier League season.  

Horne says that tests on the systems could be completed and approved by FIFA in just a year's time to provide the refereeing crew with an extra set of eyes.

A total of nine different systems are currently being tested and evaluated in July of 2012, which would mean installment for the upcoming season but the deadline is close.

"It would be really tight — but it might be possible for next season."
