The Los Angeles Galaxy and Houston Dynamo will do battle tonight as they each search for their third MLS Cup titles in tonight's 2011 MLS Cup Final (9pm, ESPN).
The Galaxy come in as the heavy favorites, playing at home in Home Depot Center, where they haven't lost in MLS all season. They face a streaking Houston Dynamo side that enjoyed one of the strongest runs to finish the season in the entire league.
The Houston Dynamo are the underdogs, especially without star midfielder Brad Davis, but they have a much better chance to win than most would expect, particularly on a rain-soaked Home Depot Center pitch.
SBI will be providing live commentary on tonight's match so please feel free to follow along here. As always, you are welcome to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.
Enjoy the action (Commentary is after the jump):
It must be a good match!
or maybe because it’s “downer debbie”?
lol
I’ll have to think some more about the other details, but I’m happy without reservation that the Cup will be at the home of the team with the most points.
Holy crap, did no one catch this brilliant response? Bravo sir.. bravo
After seeing Beckham’s reactions to winning this game, I don’t think fans can question his desire to win and do well in MLS.
It has been fine on my TV
After watching this game I am very glad that the higher seeded team will host the MLS final now. The atmosphere was really fun to watch.
Horrible how? Because you don’t like the Galaxy?
he was pretty damn horrible
horrible ending to a pretty good MLS season
You know if Jermaine Taylor had been paying attention, he probably could have cleared Donovan’s goal off the line
Stay class Dynamo scum
Yeah I can hear it but it comes and goes
Major fail with the game ball. Not only it is the Jabulani monstrocity, but it is almost impossible to see. Almost as bad as hockey. Aaah, MLS…
Anyone else notice some dude playing ‘karma chameleon’ on a bugle in the background for half the game???? Has been driving me freaking nuts.
any comments on the game ball – tough to see or do i need glasses
a begrudgingly add a +1
I saw that too. Haha somebody should get a screen shot.
I think I win a million dollars if he get teh MVP award…or maybe it was an autographed ball….
Donovan is having quite the game so far
The ref really cocked that up — Cristman offside and fouled, neither called.
Yeah. Mr. Tightshirt keeps feeling the need to b*tch about the Galaxy and Houston and how much he hates them. I understand, he’s just bitter he never won 🙂
The only occasion where you miss Chad Barrett: When Adam Cristman is starting.
Salazar is looking jacked!
Speaking of funny commentary, if you go to Sports Illustrated’s soccer page and look under “top stories,” their live blog of the game has been unfortunately abbreviated to “Los Angeles vs. Houston instant anal”
Pretty funny pregame commentary.
Let’s go LA!
I actually don’t mind any of the four announcers…
Keane is probably wondering what the big deal is.
I guess I’m happy ESPN seems to be out in New York City. Commentary better on the Spanish station, probably because I can’t understand a word.
Really? Out of those 2 Taylor is the one annoying you?… Alexi is the biggest idiot in the history of US soccer.
Brian Ching is all neck beard.
Robbie Keane is so unaware about MLS he couldnt think of the name of the cup “uhhh uhhh” lolol i dont blame him
Twellman is annoying the sh*t out of me right now
Listening to Lalas and Twellman right now and thinking..
Many American soccer players go to college. Pro: They are usually more educated than professional players in other countries. Cons: They often speak like college frat boys.
Is it just me or is Taylor still bitter about everything?
