MLS Playoffs: Union vs. Dynamo (Match Night Commentary)

Houston Dynamo Logo  Philadelphia Union Logo

The Houston Dynamo play their final match at Robertson Stadium before moving to their new stadium in 2012, and if they want to christen that new stadium with an MLS Cup trophy, they will need to hold off the Philadelphia Union in their Eastern Conference semifinal second leg (8:30pm, ESPN2).

The Dynamo hold a one-goal edge on a Union squad that has won in both their previous trips to Houston. The opening goal will be important tonight, with Houston needing to put the pressure on the visitors like they did in the first half of the first leg.

The Union will to build on their strong second half from the first leg as Peter Nowak tries to find the right lineup combination to send his squad through to the Eastern Conference Final against Sporting Kansas City.

  1. He looked terrible because the midfield couldn’t get the ball to him. He played 3 minutes on the right, then they switched him to the left, but Torres’s horrible dribbling cut Adu’s chances of creating or putting the ball in the box. The only scoring chance the Union had was when ADU try to trick the keeper by kicking a rannita! 15 or so minutes was going to cut it. Philly should have done it sooner that way they could have adjusted tactically. Give credit to Houston for defending well. They did a great job in kepping the ball away from Adu & Torres.
