Must-See Interview: Clint Dempsey

  1. Trecker has always been garbage but when did he become our 7th grade Biology teacher?

Dude looks like “Doc” from Back to the Future now.

  2. I’m well aware of the organizational tags they use here, especially “must-see”, thanks for the info tho. Typically, “must-see” would entail that something is interesting or at least mildly entertaining, neither of which apply to this interview. I understand having to fill blog space on a very slow holiday weekend, but this interview was terrible and Ives shouldn’t have wasted his time putting it on here

  3. For anyone who doesn’t know these two actors FX has a series called Justified.

It’s like watching a Dempsey and Donovan buddy movie except it’s reversed since Clint is the good guy and Donovan is the bad guy.

  4. The absolute worst interview. Trite, obvious, and awkward. Jaimie Trecker needs hisn
credentials pulled and go back to University. Ives, are you the one defining “Must See”? Cmon. You really can’t find this must see can you.

  5. As an interview it was weak. However it was clearly aimed at the person with a passing interest in soccer. Dempsey’s story is pretty interesting if you haven’t already heard it.

jhhyggvgvgbbhhn was just bitching and moaning about the US not doing enough to promote Dempsey and this obviously is an attempt to begin that process. A pathetic attempt but an attempt nonetheless.

The SBI soccer sophisticates would obviously find this interview too banal for their discriminating palates and should not deign to view it.

  7. I certainly hope so. He seems content in England though…he did talk about how much of an ordeal it was getting his family settled in England.

He’s got nothing left to prove at Fulham but it’s also a place where he can play longer term. I’d say he’s got 5-6 strong years left in him at Fulham, probably 3-4 if he moved to a bigger club like Dortmund, PSG, or Lyon.

  8. Clint isn’t somebody I’d necessarily want to see/hear interviewed. It’s obviously not his favorite thing to do and judging by the quality of the interviewer, I wouldn’t expect him to be giving too many more from now on.

He’s a quiet performer, very private, and I just enjoy watching him play.

Balotelli on the other hand would be an awesome interview…

  9. I dunno Joe, it was a very, very bad interview. We get to hear Clint during post game interviews and such, so there was nothing new that we learned here. So yes it was a waste of time.

Though you do have a point that many do tend to beat a dead horse to death, especially on this blog. It was a horrible interview and I was going to leave it at that – because I chose to keep watching when I could have simply stopped (to complain about it after the fact does seem a tad bit ridiculous).

  10. You guys are pathetic. We get an interview with Clint Dempsey, something I can’t remember the last time we saw one, and all some want to do is complain about the questions asked? Get a life folks. It wasn’t the best interview ever, but it was good to hear from Clint, and any U.S. fan should be happy to get a chance to see that.

  11. I don’t think the interviewer asked a single follow up question. He just stayed to his scripted list of boring/obvious questions. Like, when clint says I believe on improving every year. Ask, what have you been working on improving lately? Poor

  12. why doesn’t USSF promote the heck out of Clint? He’s the ideal promoter for US SOCCER. He came from humble beginnings to playing with the best in the best league in the world. I don’t get how he doesn’t have sponsor deals. He should be on a Wheaties box, have a shoe deal with NIKE or something. Pimp this dude out there.

  13. I couldn’t get past the first trite question. Rather than waste 11.08 minutes of my life with listening to drivel, just tell me if he says anything we haven’t heard before.

  14. You’re rich, famous, and one of the greatest soccer players your country has ever produced. But honestly, was it worth all those long drives to Dallas?
